I know I'm starting to sound like a sales pitch for LHC but they keep releasing planes that catch my attention. Their latest was released last weekend on "Fathers day" and I just couldn't resist picking it up. I had been watching the preview page on the LHC site and this old Fairchild bird just looked so exciting to me it was making me "what if" I couldn't see "CVA" in it at all but I needed a break from CVA planes anyway. So I started toying with another idea for a repaint on it. I've been hacking away at it here and there all week and here's what I came up with, I hope you enjoy it. Before I show you the plane here is a quote from the "Just Flight" site " This rugged multi-role plane comes in a total of 37 different classic, bush, float and military variants with high-resolution textures, different panel versions and a selection of interiors. Other features include vintage instrumentation, pop-up 1940s-style manual and checklists in the virtual cockpit, an animated pilot and custom sound sets." Well "Just Flight" you can just make that 38 variants! because Gary got a Hot rod to add to the list! I've totally swapped out the interior except for a few minor details (the compass and such). Gotten rid of the drab greyish colour schemes and brightened things up inside and out! Looking forward from the small cargo area in the back of the plane: The cockpit: I've tried to make the plane look like a 60's Hot rod retrofit so bright colours everywhere, including the seats! No self respecting "Hot Rodder" would ever switch out the *dash* in a car and although I changed its colour I tried to preserve the old panel look and feel. A rather neat "over the cowling taxi view" camera definition I added this logo which I ripped off from the LHC site to make it personal (who doesn't rip something for their car?) I tried to stain the wood trim I found buried under layers of fading and aging to match the interior colours: I know what you are thinking "splashing a bit of colour on the interior is fine and dandy but it's the exterior paint that truly defines a Hot Rod" So here you go, I hope you like it! Hope you enjoyed! Gary

When my wife complains I'm blaming you, Gary! LOL! Keith, all you have to do is tell her that along with the inline engine model pictured above you also get a complete and separate airplane with a 7 banger radial engine! That will get her. (I painted this one as well) Cal, Robert, and Frank, Thanks guys!

For anyone interested, the F24W, black with flames, radial model is up on Avsim. Just search for Gary Moore. I didn't paint the interior instead I included LHC's roller burnished metal panel and black and white seats.

A little slow though. Kind of a nice substitute for a Super Cub. For a little more zip I like this Alabeo Staggerwing.
The Staggerwing is nice but I was a little disappointed. Now the Pitts S2S that had zip

Well, I finally saw the CVA in the old "24". The snow is melting outside and we're suppose to be in the double digits temperature wise starting this week so it means float season is starting for me. I already have the twotter extended and Piper Pacer 180 on floats but that is just not enough so I've added the F24 to my fleet. Now I can haul cargo, passengers, and go fishing! The way I look at it, you don't need a fancy shiny $400 000+ airplane to go fishing, any old rusty, mildewy, moldy, cracked paint bird will get you there as long as it is able to stay airborne. So here is my fisherman's dream: I left the interior as the military version to make it look like it was bought surplus and repainted: Which pretty much explains the bullet hole in the wing: Just waiting for management to leave before I head out back and "borrow" this bird for the weekend. (I had the foresight to strap the CFO's prized canoe to the float struts earlier in the day): When I said moldy I meant moldy: When I said cracked paint I meant cracked paint: If you look real close you can see the fabric is badly tarnished as well (years of neglect by a management team that refuses to part with a single extra penny for anything): I love the stall's and overspeeds in this plane they made it so your eyes deceive your brain and you really feel the immersion, and if you use AccuFeel (version 2 Air Land and Sea) the immersion is complete: The little steps at the base of the wing struts used to refuel the plane are hard to get at to clean so over the decades lots of dirt have built up in there: Anyways, I'm tired of painting! Gone fishing! Hope you enjoyed Gary
