The following is a brief guide to setting up CVAcars.

CVAcars can be downloaded from the Utilities section of the Downloads. The Downloads are located in your Pilot Center.

The file you download is compressed in a zip archive. Before you attempt to install it, you will need to extract the file. Right click on the zip archive and select an extract option.

Once the file has been extracted you may run the installer. Pay attention to the installation directory, you will need to find it at least once after you install the application.

Navigate to the CVAcars folder on your hard drive. It will be a sub folder of FSProducts. Locate the kACARS-Customizable.exe file. Right click on the exe and select properties.

On the properties applet, select the Compatibility tab. Make sure the box marked “Run this program as an administrator” is selected and click apply if needed.

Right click on the exe once more and select Send to → Desktop (create shortcut)

Close out your windows explorer session.

Locate your new shortcut for CVAcars on your desktop and start the application.

Near the top left corner you will see the word “Info”. Click on this and select settings.

In the window that pops up, enter in your CVA callsign. It should be CVAxxxx where x is your pilot number. Make sure that your number is four digits long. If your callsign is not four digits long add a zero(s) in front of your number.

In the password field, enter the same password as you use to log in to your pilot profile on the CVA website.

Make sure the fuel display section has Pounds (lbs) selected.

Press the SAVE button and exit CVAcars. On your next start, CVAcars will load your callsign and password from the newly created config file.
