Can anyone tell me what a "RW turnoff light" is.
I know there is one on each wing, but thats it.
The way it reads I asume it is to be turned off when on the RWY. Yes/No. ????

Hi James,
As far as I know it is to help you see the taxyway better after you have landed and you going to be exiting the runway. There is one on the right side for right turns and one on the left wing for left turns.

From ACA AOM: Two runway turnoff lights are located in the left and right wing root.
ACA AOM says it is pilot's dioscretion when to turn off the RUNWAY TURNOFF LIGHTS.
This is from a Lauda 767 AOM:
BEFORE TAKEOFF Captain Position TAXI and RUNWAY TURNOFF light switches ON. Release parking brake
CLIMB At 10,000 feet or flight level 100, position LANDING and RUNWAY TURNOFF light switches OFF.
DESCENT/APPROACH At 10,000 feet or flight level 100, position LANDING and RUNWAY TURNOFF light switches ON.
AFTER LANDING Position TAXI and RUNWAY TURNOFF light switches OFF approaching parking position.

No, I didn't really think so either......and he won't tell me how he really got them. Haven't seen it yet, and if it's anything like the so called 777 training manual he gave me then it'll be pretty lame. Some training video more for Sales, and possible future flight attendents then the cockpit crew. It is from Boeing though.
But haven't seen it yet so we will see??
