Good day;
I just included fsx steam and I need advise please.
I fly with the cockpit by hitting f10 - but then the shift enter or backspace won't change the eye point.

I also note if you hit shift backspace it resets the eye level but sometimes I can't see a darn thing. Landing I need to lower the cockpit to see the rwy.

can anyone help me - I also tried f9 on landing but most planes I have don't have an alternate cockpit.

Have you tried other aircraft and does this give you the same problem?

Hi - I find it is each plane - some seem to have landing cockpits which make seeing out the front easier. With fs9 a just shift enter to lower / raise the ground to see the rwy - fsx seems to be lacking this - so how do the others fly ? If I get very close to the threshold and descend I can do it - but that isn't realistic at all. Maybe there is no fix and I just have to learn another way to do it......

I am not sure why you are having trouble, I have tried the controls in FSX-SE and it is working

eye point down SHIFT-ENTER
eye point up BACKSPACE-ENTER

After reading your post again I realized what you are saying. Basically Shift-Enter or Shift-Backspace will only work with virtual Cockpit F9 with FSX like it use to in FS9.

I think there is a work around I will look into it and let you know.

Hi;
I think I found the answer - press and hold down control Q until it lowers to the right level - and to make it go up it is control shift Q hold till it gets up there.

Flying is good again - .......... thanks for your help.

There is a setting in each of the aircrafts config file that will allow you to set it permanently. not sure of the exact line in the
aircrafts config file but look for eyepoint or something like that. its not the one that uses view left right etc.

Just checked and its

eyepoint = -18.55, -1.97, 10.7

relative to the aircraft DATUM and since we don't know where the maker made the DATUM its trial and error.
I think the second number is the one you want to adjust (Up and Down) negative is below datum Positive is above
1st left and right
2nd up and down
3rd fore and aft.
