If you dont have a Flight Planner you can go to
http://www.simroutes.com and generate one from there, just put in the info required dont forget the A/C type.
then download it to your ......user\documents\flight simulator X Files directory
Fire up FSX and click FILE, then FLIGHT PLANNER then LOAD, then choose the flight plan and away you go

I use FSCommander mostly (PAYWARE), but use simroutes or sometimes I'll use Vatspy, right click on and A/C and "See route Details"
Then if I like it, "Copy route" :)

didnt mean nevermind to you cal I was saying it to my other post. So is that just easier than using the fsx flight planner or is that for just planning out where you would like to go? cause all the routes I fly are from cva and they already have routes for me

Ya those a lot are out dated and use Vector routes (Low Altitude Airways) instead of the Jet Routes (High Altitude Airways)

Good way to learn, I use SIDs and STARS, and they aren't on the site.
another learning chapter for you.....
This is a route I would fly, you need to have access to the Charts for each Airport. I use Navigraph (Payware)
but you dont need the latest ones to do them.
You can get some here http://chartfinder.vatsim.net/

YVR RICHM3.FERRY HARAS J500 VLN J504 YBR AMBIL7.13 CYWG
The RICHM3.FERRY is the SID for leaving Vancouver
The AMBIL7.13 is the STAR for Arriving in Winnipeg.

Hi mike,

I normally use http://www.flightaware.com to plan my flights. Sometimes no SIDs or STARs are given on the flightplan, so you can chose the most appropriate.

For example, if the flightplan from CYEG-CYVR ends at the BOOTH intersection, you can look at the charts Cal linked and decide that the BOOTH SIX STAR would be the most appropriate as one of the STAR transitions is BOOTH.

Hope this helps.

I just downloaded the demo of SimPlates it seems to me that alot is online for free and $40.00 USD would go a long way towards Navigraph.
Navigraph you can just download the airports you want. with SimPlates it worriees me about updates. Navigraph also updates the FMC
data for the various aircraft that uses them. Do you have FSCommander? that would be a first buy in my opinion.

FSCommander is a flight planner with a moving map, shows the routes, SIDs and STARS, does a lot.
Connects with FSX to show a moving map of where you are.

thanks lord and thanks again cal good cal on the fs commander. Love it. I have to learn how to use all it features but yeah this was amazing. So now I set up with navi graph and their charts will be used with the fs commander or is navi graph seperate. oh and with navigraph once you pay and download a enroute or airport charts there yours right. and do you have to always get the newest charts. Sorry for all the questions just trying to learn as much as I can.
