I don't know what to say. I've tried every damned thing under the sun to get FSX to work consistently on my system. Just can't get it stable. No matter what I do, about 20 minutes in to any flight it crashes with the "FSX has encountered a problem and needs to close" error. Sounds like an out of memory error to me, but can't understand how that can still be happening with a fresh 64 bit system installed... Anyone hear of a release date for "Fly"?

Hi Keith, Have you installed the service packs for fsx? (sp1 and 2) or do you have a copy of acceleration installed with FSX? Also, check your security setting for fsx.exe and run it as administrator.

I think he has to google " how to get FS-X working on POS system". Dell, HP, Acer and other 'package' systems are fine for browsing, Word, Excel and office duties. But when it comes to intense graphics, they often suck. Sometimes they can take it, but there's so many threads on the web about them. i7 2600K.....ah, to dream!

The system is a Dell XPS 730. Absolute piece of CRAP. When Dell bought Alienware, they decided to make a gaming system under the Dell brand name. Hence the XPS line. Problem is, they borrowed Alienware technology and merged it with Dell tech. The results are far less then impressive. Conflicts everywere, in far more then just FSX. You should see me try to find video converts/editor that will work well with it.. Bottom line, it's a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz, 2833 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s), planted on Dells own MoBo. I'm running a Nvidea GTS250 video card, Soundblaster xTreme Gamer, 4GB of Dell ram (the only kind that will work with Dell's mobo, so I found) and Win7 64bit. The GOOD news is, my 3 year long struggle with this machine is coming to an end. I'm building a brand new rig from scratch this summer. Purhaps I can join the FSX community then!

Keith, I'd keep that cpu, gpu, sound, hd, case and maybe psu. New mobo and ram and you could have a decent rig.

Nope. Can't do it. The case is special build by Dell, can't fit another MoBo into it. And the PSU is also custom made. Can't plug it in to any other Mobo! See the kind of trouble I've had with this rig? Dell did this on purpose so you HAVE to buy parts and upgrades from them. You should have seen the problem I had finding a replacement graphics card that would fit and work with this thing.... I might keep the graphics card and sound card for the first little while (just to keep the initial costs down and keep my wife from loosing her mind. I'll sneak in upgrades later ), but everything else will be replaced.
