Hello all.
I have been flying here for some years now, but recently had to do some work on my pc, so I had to reinstall all my games.
FSX had no problem, but when I got to FsInn, well I get the usual problems, and even I do exactly as I am supposed to do, nothing.
After Installing, I run FSX and get the erros window that says it cannt connect to commondialog.ocx.
and if I run FsX, and i try to run FSInn, I get in the settings window, an error that says is not connected to copilot.ocx.
I did install, uninstall, looked my firewall, turned off antivirus Avira, and nothing.
So please help me.

I just formatted and re-installed everything and not one problem, are you running Windows 7?
If so, I would redo everything, but this time, even the install programs, run as "administrator" even the aircraft and scenerys EXE files.
I know it's a lot of work but I read it somewhere that some installs won't add everything unless it's run as administrator.
and registering an OCX would be one of those problems. I finally got to install FSINN and Copilot, which I have always had problems installing
and getting it to work and no problems at all. :D I have checked some of the programs after I installed them before I run them and some won't let me as administrator,
make changes to it, so I change it to allow me and nothing went wrong when I first connected.
So now I have everything the way I want it, evrything works the way it should, now the important part......
Make a disc image of the drive, that way when you add something and this go wrong, and they will  in less than half an hour I can have it up and running again
with everything installed and at a point that it's working good. :D

The order I installed: checking after each install.

1 FSX (Check that you have full privileges to run before running)
2 Updates to FSX (Check that you have full privileges to run before running)
3 Scenerys (Check that they are visible and in the correct order)
4 Aircraft (Check that they work and are visible)
5 Weather engine (Check that it will go online and works)
6 FSINN and Copilot (Check it will go online and works)
7 Make Disc Image.
8 Enjoy FSX and Online flying. :D

One more thing I did this time, (I think it helps) is some of the commercial Aircraft you buy have up to 30 liverys and aircraft.
I disabled the ones I dont fly, (Don't delete as some are used as AI)
Change the PANEL folder in each aircraft folder to "Panel.Hidden" or PANEL.CVA08 to "PANELCVA08.Hidden" now they won't show in the menu
back up the aircraft.cfg file in the aircaft folder to aircraft.bak and then edit out any textures you don't use, then save.
With MyTraffic X, I have over 5500 aircraft, yet I have 8 showing in the menu.
Good Luck :D

I think some files are corrupt and you should reinstall everything, including your XP opperating system. The CommonDialog control FSINN uses is COMDLG32.OCX not commondialog.ocx. My COMDLG32.OCX is installed in the \windows\system32 and in \Program Files\FSFDT\Control Panel

Ok this is what I did:
Unstalled everything
2- Installed FSX
3- Installed SP1
4- Install SP2
5- Install fsuipc
6- Installed FScopilot17B2_4 ( I get a msg that says FSInn needs to be updated)
7- Install FSInn1.3B2_3
8- Run FSX Get a window that says fail to load control "common dialog" from COMNDDL32.ocx
9- Run any flight, go to alt-complemments-FSInn, and it runs, but cannt connect to vatsim, and if I click settings get a mssg that says FAILED TO create FSCopilotFSInn.Settings

Spend 3 days installing and unstallings everithing over and over again.....any ideas what is wrong???

I hope someone can help you, Carlos. I feel for you. I've been grounded with my own problems lately. Luckily, I do have a pretty good life on the side!

quote from the FSINN install guide
"Firewall/Antivirus:

The most common problem that can occur after this simple installation is having a third party firewall block access. If you have problems, check the program control of your firewall program and give full access to the three modules:

FSFDTCP.exe
FSInnUI.exe
FWINN.exe
The Text Chat Error (and other .ocx errors)

When running the text chat the first time it might give an error. You can fix this by running FSInnUI (the Inn Control Panel) once from the Start Menu and clicking on Chat. (For Vista right click to run as administrator.)"

get all of it here
