As the title says, just if anyone else besides me were wondering so it can be verified:

Fokker F-28 (Class 2, older/smaller than the 70 and the 100 is in the fleet as a Class 2)
Sud Aviation Caravelle (Class 2/3, little bit shorter than 737 and DC 9 but caries ~80 PAX)
Douglas DC-8 (Class 4, Longer than 737 and DC-9, caries more PAX, 4 Engines)
Lockheed L-1011 TriStar (Class 4, ~same size/Little Smaller than the DC-8 and 767, More/~ the same Pax than DC-8 and 767, 3 Engines)
Convair 880/990 (Class 3, ~same size/Bigger than 737, Less Pax than 737, 4 Engines)
Boeing 707 (Class 3, Longer than 737, ~ the same Pax as 737, 4 engines)
Boeing 717 (Class 2/3, ~Same size as 737, Less Pax, 2 Rear mounted Jets, Was in Competition with ERJ's and CRJ's)
more to come later...

I'm pretty sure we don't, and never will, have rules for everything, so your judgement comes in handy.

I fly the FeelThere Embraer E-Jet 170 and 190. Neither are listed in CVAcars or the handbook*. They are both like the Fokker 100* so I use them in class 2 flights. But if I fly a class 3 route that is short, I might use the 190, so it becomes a class 3.

I'd say make your best guess based on your pilot level and your route class. Flexible and logical, no?

Boeing 717 is class 2

L-1011 is class 4

707 is class 4

Fokker F28 jet is class 2

and E170 is class 2 but nobody knows if E190 is class 2 or 3.

Just out of curiosity, are these your "suggestions", or have you worked these out with head office? You always sound so sure of yourself, it's hard to tell.

"Boeing 717 is class 2" does not sound like a suggestion. It sounds like the language of trolls, those guys who answer every question like they are the experts, and end up misleading people. Like saying people "need" to have the NOTAMS for every airport. I know you like to promote and hype everything every thing (like monster engines and super this and greatest that), but I think it would be better if you tried to not oversell everything you say. Please.

Sigh....

Use your judgment and if unsure as in the forums or email one of the senior staff and we'll go from there. Generally, compare the flight range of the aircraft and the number of passengers it carries comparing it to the specs of the ones in our current fleet. Find a close match and that will be the class it should be. While there may be some exceptions this is a good rule of thumb to start with.

And...since this topic is becoming a little redundant and comments turning into bickering this topic is closed.

Let's get back to flying.
