I cleared the event files and rebooted but 'm seeing one recurring error in event viewer; NVR0FLASHDEV service could not be started.

I checked some forums and it's used by nTune, some people have that lying around in the registry even after uninstalling nTune. Problem is that I'm using the nVidia control panel to configure the 3 monitors in windows. I don't see how I can uninstall nTune alone, I think it's used to overclock the BIOS directly from windows, I'm not really using that feature 'cause I'm running stock speeds.

Now FS-X doesn't start at all, it just hangs on the splash screen, even Task Manager hangs, I can only restart.

Go to START/RUN

in the box type Services.msc and then enter

Look for the service that is not starting (NVR0FLASHDEV) in the list andidentify its present status?

Only one service starting with NV:

NVIDIA display driver

I think this might be a remnant from an older install of my nVidia drivers. Can I just go through the registry and delete the entries for this non-existant service?

I would highly recommend against that. NVidia used to have a software tool for removing their video drivers from the system registry. Have not looked for it in a while, but you may want to try that instead of manually editing.

Cheers!

I'm gonna reformat and reinstall only the stuff I need.

It's the excuse I needed to take out the P3-1000 and see if I can install Squawkbox 4 and WideFS on there.

That way I keep this gamer with the bare gaming minimum.
