I'm sure we have access to some file like this, but I can't find it for the life of me.

I just re-installed FS-X and would like to back up this file for when I get a new gamer. I don't want to figure out how I had everything set up again.

I recall that when you uninstall FSX you can say to keep your settings, or something like that, to be used later.

Nope, it didn't ask me.

Robert:

Do you mean fsx.cfg and the other root file stuff?

Vista - C:\users\(Your User Name)\Appdata\roaming\Microsoft\FSX

XP - C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX

Hope this helps.

I'm looking for whatever it is that stores all the controller info: keys, axis etc.

Do you mean the " KNEEBOARD " ? ( one of the little buttons [icons] on the panels of the airplanes , looks like a check mark)

Nope, the keyboard settings, like A for autopilot.

EDIT: I found the defaults here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Robert\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\Controls\Standard.XML

but where does it store our changes?

That file above are the keyboard commands, I'd ilke to save the controller commands as well; CH yoke, throttle quadrant and pedals.

It's not in the CH profile either, I have nothing in there, I set everything via FS-X.

Ok, I found this:

levans -

there are two standard.xml files.

The one in the FSX folder is the default file that FSX uses to get the basic
settings when a controller is installed.
The second one, located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\Controls
is the one you change and save.

Also in Vista double check that you have rights to edit/change, etc.

Good luck,

Vic

I was finding both those files and getting confused. I scrolled to the bottom of the one in App Data and there's a bunch of controller stuff down there, so that looks like the one to save indeed.
