I am currently rehearsing some online peer-to-peer techniques for in-cockpit instruction (aircraft is static) with some buddies of mine seeking better understanding of navigational gauges and radio operation.

It appears that this will be a very powerful tool for a mentor to help newbies break into CVA and adopt the techniques encouraged with Ken's lesson plans.

If you have experience with Netmeeting, please let me know...however, if you don't - please send me an email at devon.leslie@gmail.com and I will train you on the basics of netmeeting. Please note that a MSN account is needed to do this.

I will be discussing it's use with Ken to seek his approval.

Does Netmeeting have a voice aspect to go with it? I think that'd especially aid in instruction, since it gives a direct connection with people as opposed to just reading words

roger that Ken - maybe over the weekend...

Send me an email re an hour you have free...

To answer the voice question - yes, Netmeeting does offer audio capability although Teamspeak and Ventrillo tend to be more reliable

Hey Devon,

If you are looking for a really good voice client I'd highly suggest using a program known as Skype. you can fine it at:

www.skype.com

I regularly use this for chatting all over the world and it has the best audio quality I have ever used in an online voice chat program. As well, it has the capability to do VOIP to land lines (for a fee of course) which I also use. It is still very good.

The computer to computer portion is free - give it a try.

Thanks!

Darryl

Skype is nice, but just be warned it's a bit of a bandwidth hog. I shut it down when landing or in high traffic....

Cheers!

Actually I've found it to be bandwidth friendly when I use it. I've played a lot of online games whil in conference with 2 or 3 people and seen little to no impact (i.e. during Diablo II night with 4 people on at once).

And, I'm in the remote area of Ontario with not the best high speed internet (I reside in Moose Factory, ON) but seems to work fine.

Oh well, to each his own as they say!

Ciao!

I also love skype, and my record is a 5 person, 5 hour call :P Although the other people did join sometime in the middle :P Good for online gaming, and dead simple to use (no firewall issues what so ever)

No, no....don't get me wrong....

I like Skype too...it may be the best voice program I've seen. I think it's just that I got so many bells and whistles installed and running with FS9 that the added drag while flying online is too much. Maybe I should have said "resource hog" rather than bandwidth.

I've used it while playing OTHER games, to no ill effect. Even while flying, it's ok...just while landing that it causes trouble...especially into a busy airport like LAX.

Cheers!
