For those that have expressed an interest in setting up a private voice channel to talk to fellow CVA pilots while on Vatsim, here are the particulars.

You can name the connection whatever you wish in Squawkbox, not too sure about FSInn but I am sure that someone more versed in FSInn will chime in. I personally call it CVA.

The server is rw.liveatc.net

And the channel is cva

Hope to hear you on the airwaves soon!!

Good idea, but I think there's already a CVA channel, I used it last Easter.

I'm pretty sure he's just reminding us of something that's already there. :) And for the new people, it's new information!

That is correct - this is the channel we've been using for quite some time and just filling in the newbies around the office :D

Cheers!

When you get in this forum, look at the bottom and click <The Beginning> in the Show Topics From scroll box, you should get an older thread about CVA Private Chat:
http://www.canadianva.com/cgi-bin/ib/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=9;t=88

I'm checking now, I think I saw a Roger Wilco option in FSinn the other day.

EDIT: Under FSinn, click SET, General, VA Voice, you can enter RW info there. Chuck reposted the same thing to help us here as what Marty had posted back then.

For Description ; rw.liveatc.net

For server ; rw.liveatc.net

For Channel ; CVA

The problem is that FSinn needs a Frequency and Channel Setting, the Frequency has to be a number in nnn.nnn format. And it's not clear if CVA or rw.liveatc.net is acceptable for Channel Setting.

Carlos, check my post above again for edits. I don't know how to use the RW info in FSinn either.

Using private voice chat in FSInn is pretty straight forward. On the FSInn control panel click the Advanced button, then click VVL. You will see a drop down "area". Just type in the private channel in that and hit enter. Provided you have your private chat PTT button setup you should be good to go!

I get a line utility like when I start Radio, Pressure, etc, no drop-down list.

Where do we set the push-to-talk button with FSinn? I used to have that in Squawkbox, but I didn't see it in FSinn, probably missed it.

That's interesting about not having a drop down for the VVL.
In any case the PTT settings are in the FSFDT Control Panel (the 6 traffic lights). Expand Voice then VATSIM then click key mappings. It'll allow you to set either a joystick key or keyboard key for both private voice and regular voice.

Ok, thanks, things look better now.
