Great choice Barry. I plan on picking up the same board sometime this week. There is also a premium version that only really offers dual LAN ports and a USB expansion card with a couple of extra USB 2.0 ports for about $60 more (you can do a comparion of the two on the ASUS website, I believe it's asus.com). Other than that I didn't see a difference. And, $210 USD is a great price cause I have not seen it for less than $250 here in Canada.
I'd highly recommend it.

Cheers

Actually, the Premium also has three heat pipes on the board compared to the other with only one.

It is quite likely a good board but one thing popped up when I went to the Asus site. About half of the 1366 socket boards use solid polymer capacitors that are good for 5,000 hours at 105 degrees C or 500,000 hours at 65 degrees C. The other use....?

Personally, I went for the P6TD Deluxe. A few more bucks but better quality caps...(I lost a board once for blown caps).

Not saying anything bad about your selection, it will quite likely do an excellent job, just pointing out something I saw.

Asus boards - one of the better if not best choices in the market place. The board you have chosen is a reasonable mid range board. The one Chuck mentions definitely has a few bonus perks if you have the extra $$$.

Cheers!

Thanks for your thoughts on the mobo's guys. There had to be reason for the difference in price between the P6X59D-E and the Premium. I asked about 4-5 techs at various computer parts store and not one mention the heat pipe difference. As far as the caps go they all said that ASUS uses Japanese caps. All three boards are ASUS but none of the techs mentioned anything about solid polymer caps either ...something I will have to check on for the P6X58D- E and Premium before I make my final decision. The reason I went for the P6X is that it supports true USB 3.0 and Sata 6 which appearently are quicker interfaces that will become mainstream and that makes it future ready.

I have yet to find a tech at a PC store that knows more about PCs than my wife. I google PC tech forums and look for posters that seem to know what they are talking about. There's a few BS, but the majority know what they are talking about.
