Can someone enlighten me as to the magic to start this plane?

Auto-start works fine, but I want to start it manually. I tried the Enrich button, didn't do squat for this plane. Is there a fuel valve or something somewhere that has to be turned on?

(hope this isn't on the dash in plain view 'cause I just can't see it)

I figured out why I got it to work, I had used auto-start to get going. Once I use that process, I can stop and start the engines as I want. But I still don't know the extra step(s) done in auto-start that I'm not doing manually.

Anyone have any clue what that might be? How do you guys manually start up the ERJ?

Do the engines wind up, but fail to light off? If that's what it is, it may be that your fuel valves are set to off, and the panel doesn't have the correct switches to turn them on.

Try this, When the plane loads, press CTRL+SHIFT+F4. This should be the command to turn on all fuel valves.

Then try to manually start it again.

Let me know if it works.

In real life the ERJ is an auto start type of aircraft.

???

Yup, the starter jsut turns, and turns, and turns, but it never fires up.

I figured it would be something like that, I just wasn't sure which control to try out.

EDIT: I've been doing that, it's the same as Enrich in FS-X.

BORING!!!

:D

I know, new planes are becoming more and more automated. But what's the fun in FS-X if you don't get to play with the buttons? :)

Rob you need to turn on the fuel.
I think it is Shift+F4 or CTRL-SHIFT+F4 or something like that.

Hmmm,...has difficulty starting an aircraft designed with autostart....hmmmm ??? ???

If you like panel and system challenges, I know a really good BAe 146 panel for FS2004 that will drive you pretty much around the bend.

I believe I know the one you speak of, Chuck. It should be included in the CVA Cargo version of the plane... Unfortunately I'm pretty sure that plane was stored on AVSIM. So I don't believe it's "reachable" at this time.

I'll have to look at some of my old back ups and see if I still have the original files somewhere. :)

Hmmm, this is weird. I can start the ERJ in auto-start, shut down the engines with Mixture Idle Cutoff (CTRL-SHFT-F1), but they won't fire back up no matter which Mixture control I try (CTRL-SHFT-F2 to F6). Enrich or Lean, it makes no difference, the engines just continue to turn without starting.

I even tried Primer, Engine Fuel Valves (All Open) and APU/Generator and still nothing.

It has to be a gauge issue then. Which ERJ are you using?

I don't get what you mean by "gauge issue", gauges only display information from the airplane. I'd think it would be more of a switch that I'm not aware of and have to set ON (like a fuel valve or pump).

I'm using whatever we download from the CVA site.

Is anyone else able to start the plane manually?

In Flight simulator, gauges are the interface between the pilot and the plane. Yes, they can read data from the sim (Altitude, speed, attitude, etc) but can also be programmed to write data TO the sim...

For instance, a gauge can be programed to add visual wingtip vorticies when a certain airspeed and attitude are reached.

Or, they can be programed to control the way the sim will respond to certain commands. For instance, the procedure required to start the unit.

So when I say gauge issue, I'm not talking about the altimeter, I'm talking about the imbedded "macro" (if you will) that is affecting the starting of the aircraft.

I think you said you're running FSX.... I'm on FS9, but I'll download the plane and try it... maybe it has the same characteristics across the two versions...

It says the FSX version is running the default Lear45 panel. Have you added a 3rd party panel to plane?
