So I have a new nav help question for the most part I have been flying direct GPS routes or High/low Airways which still use the GPS to fly... Now I have tried to use VORS to fly but for some reason when ever I tune into a VOR set my course and start to fly the plane never seems to "settle" down it always seems to be banking from left to right left to right and I can never seem to make it flight straight.

Any help?

Hey Kaleb,

I believe you will notice this primarily because of the fact you are not "really" flying straight :D You have to remember - although you have a heading set and you are flying that heading you will get moved from side to side due to winds aloft as well and have to make minor course corrections along the way.

Also, the VOR station sends out a signal on a specific radial and if you move off that radial by even 1 degree you will need to make a course correction. You will notice the changes need to be made more frequently as you get closer to the VOR itself but from further out distances not as much.

Hope this helps and I am sure others will chime in here.

Cheers!
