Been having a problem with FS9 crashing.Running a P4 2.80 s478 800mhz on a ASUS motherboard P4R800-VM s478 DDR w/ATI 9100 built in.
Microsoft on line crash analysis says it's caused by graphics device driver.Downloaded an up grade driver for the ATI 9100 but I'm still having the FS9 crashes. It does not happen all the time.It seems to me that when I hit the S key or F9 for the FSNav it goes blank with the top and bottom menu bars still there then up pops the error message and they want me to send a report after which the FS9 reboots.
If I need a new graphics card which one should I get?
I sometimes wonder if it is the third party planes that I have but I get no real frame drops.
help

Yeah, doncha hate when that happens...

Have you checked FSNav? Could it be the culprit?

There are sites out there that may be able to give you a line on what's causing the grief.

Just curious, but are you using FSNav multiplayer mode when this happens?

Yes ,Im in multi player mode.Aha I hope that is all it is,I can do without that but I would have a hard time getting across the street on my grandson's tricycle without FSNav to peak at.Thanks for the tips DS and Keith ,I'll try it with no multi player.mode next time.

If your install file for FSNav is from quite some time ago, there has been an update. I'd suggest downloading the new version and trying that. I know that my computer would crash to desktop quite frequently with FSNav. It is still listed as version 4.60 even though it has been updated.

Exactly, Chuck. I was NEVER able to use FSNav multiplayer until someone let me know of this update.

Let us know if it works for you, Brian

OHOH,was flying this morning and the black sceen came up again while I was going thru the view modes with the S key.Maybe it is the graphic card and it just can't keep up.I did hit the S key about three times in a row pretty fast.
Sure is getting me down . Could it be the key board?Hmmm

well I thank you have a mime Tr how much ram is on the ATI card I to had this and found that one of my aircraft panels was cousing my ATI card to crash going from 2d to 3d. Are you using the same plane and panel for your flights.

1 check that your ATI card is plugged in right on your board
2 check your ram on the card you my be over driving it
3 try using a panel that you know works
4 check your panel cfg you my have a gauge that the panel is using that you don't have installed.

hope this helps
