Shalom and greetings all my pals,

For all class two flights, I always use 727-200F ADV plane.

Now I have question: is Embraer E170/E190 considered class two plane or not?

Thanks for your assistance in this matter.

Regards,

Aharon

Good question Aharon. I just flew on a real US Air Embraer 175 while on vacation. It was a short hop from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to KCLT Charlotte. It's a beautiful little plane. I sat on the aisle in the first row and got a great view of the cockpit before take off. Looked exactly like my VC in the Wilco. Since it's a little guy, my guess would be class 2. But they are certainly capable to fly class 3 routes as well.

Barry,

Thanks!!! I love Myrtle Beach airport!!! Did you see many C-17 Cargomasters practicing take offs and landings every minute there?? I flew into that airport few times and always saw those military planes practicing!!

To Darryl and Chuck,

While I am waiting for answer to whether E170/190 is considered class two or not, have both of you reached verdict on giving class three status to 757 without ETOP and class four status to 757 with ETOP?

Since CVA imposed strict rule prohibiting upgrade of one class for each flight, I am being prevented from using two of my favorite planes: 757s and 777s because there are too many class 2 and class 4 flights and too few class 3 flights.

Regards,

Aharon

The Embraer E-Jets line is composed of two main commercial families and a business jet variant. The smaller E-170 and E-175 make up the base model aircraft, with the E-190 and E-195 being stretched versions, with different engines and larger wing and landing gear structures. The 170 and 175 share 95% commonality, as do the 190 and 195. The two families share near 89% commonality, with identical fuselage cross-sections and avionics, featuring the Honeywell Primus Epic EFIS suite.

Although commonly referred to with simply an "E" prefix, the jets are technically still Embraer Regional Jets ("ERJ"s).[6] Embraer dropped the ERJ prefix in its advertising early in production. The E-190/195 series of aircraft have similar capacities to the initial versions of the DC-9 and Boeing 737, which have always been considered mainline airliners.

Until upper management posts a final decision on your question, I would consider the E17x as a regional jet (class 2).

The E19x is more of a dilemma, it is technically a regional jet but is compared to a transborder (class 3). I cannot make a guess how upper management would consider these.

By the way, it is summer, some of management is on vacation so it could take a while to get an answer.

Just bumping up another thread about aircraft classes until Rob accepts to classify them all. :D

(no answer in it yet anyways and it was asked several months ago)
