Hi Guys,
I'm hoping some one can help with setting up FSInn voice. What's happenning is when I start up FSX and then startup FSInn it seems to startup and connect fine. I see other aircraft I can see ATC in the ATC window but I cannot hear anyone on the radios and I cannot contact anybody by voice. I can contact ATC via the chat window thou. I can't seem to figue it out. If anyone has any suggestion I would greatly appreciate it. :(

Thanks

Hi David,

What you need to do is, plug in your headset, you do not need to have FSX running, start menu, find the FSFDT folder, and click on that, right under it will be the Control Panel, launch that, and it will load up with an icon that looks like two stop lights at the bottom right corner of your PC where the time and such is. click on it, and it will open up the FSFDT control panel, there are a bunch of options on the left, click to expand the Voice category, then click the VATSIM one, make sure "Enable VATSIM Voice on this computer" is checked, and then underneath that are your options for microphone, headset, and speakers. Mine is setup so that I have my microphone and headset hooked up to my headset for talking to ATC, and select my speakers for anything else. Just use the drop down menu and it should list your headset device. If you have the option, I think Direct Sound is better.

Once you've configured that, click on Key mappings underneath the VATSIM menu, and you can set your Push to talk button (PTT) for either your joystick or have it on your keyboard, you're choice, or you could do both I guess. Click on "use a special mapping for private VVL Channel, so that when you set up the company channel, VATSIM won't hear what you're saying to us :p. Once you've done all that close the program, and start up FSX, and now you should be able to hear the ATC, and when you would like to talk, simply hold down you're Push to talk button, and speek. Then let go of the button when you're done transmitting.

Hope this helps!

-Matt

Hey Matt,
I finally had a chance to try what you suggest but no change. I still can not hear anyone or be heard online with FSInn. Communication via text is no problem.
So I'm still looking for a solution. If you or anyone else have any more suggestion I would really appreciate them. :(

I'll resort to asking the stupid but possibly helpful questions :p

1) Do you have a mic/headset?
2) Is it plugged in when your trying to communicate with ATC?
3) is the mic/headset volume on mute or very low? (check on the obttom right corner of desktop, fully open the volume thing and look at ur mic gauge)

Thats all I can think of at the moment, I hope you figure it out! If not im sure some1 else knows what the problem is!

-Hang in there!
:D
-Matt

Take a screen shot of your VVL bar and also post your SET/ Network /Vatsim screen at the same time and we shall be able to help you.

It's NOT easy. It's actually quite the PITA.

Go and put your images on photobucket or some other web service, then copy and paste the URL from the image here and it will show up.

Not an FSINN user but do you have to have your Com 1 radio tuned to the correct frequency in order to hear them?

Yes chuck in FSInn you must have your radios tuned in to the correct frequency. That was an affirmitive while I tried to communicate with ATC.

Frank as for the screen shot I'm trying what Rob suggested .....I hope it works.

It is clear what the problem is. Take a look at my VVL bar. When your radios are dialed in you will get the following green lights.

from left to right
The first two vertical bars shows you are connnected to the voice server.
The next is the COM frequency of COM1 radio
The next is a green vertical (Tranmit connection in COM1)
The next green Vertical (Recieve connection in COM1)

The 3 Horizontal Top should be Blue (inactive) then the second should be green (when connected to the ATC)
third horizontal is Mic transmit (it will stay blue untill you hiy your tranmit button on your keyboard)

The next (set) is indentical but applies to COM2
(my radio set is green becasue I have is dialed into Unicom) that is except for the two horizontal becasue I do not want to listen or tranmit on unicom at the same time I speak to ATC on COM1. ( this is adjusted by the toggle swithches on the radio stack.) The rest of the VVL bar applies to VA private channel.

Two things for you to do here is use your mouse and click on th e bars to activate them to turn on (green). Another bug I have is sometimes there is a delay in the tune of the channel. You can try cycle the frequency in and out of your ATC freq. This makes it kick in.
