I just tried out the POSky/CVA 747 200F at Churchill (CYYQ) where we used the looooong runway for our Multi last night.

The tail dragged on rotation, which is fine, but then a shower of sparks and a cloud of smoke continued to emanate from the dragged area as I flew on.

Does that suprise anyone? Do many aircraft do that? Will I be able to lift off without having that happen once I practice? :O :D

Yes Rob, with practice you can prevent this from happening. The Posky aircraft do that because they have an "effects file" that comes with this plane.The tail strike is from too much pitch up on lift off. Be careful on landing, a tail strike can happen also, if you flair too much.

Now that is cool. You don't have to worry about that with the LDS 763 for example. Very um stately. sloooowly rotate, then waaaaaaiiiiiit until it starts to life off.

:)

If you would like to disable the sparks, you can do the following..depending on your version of FS.

In FS2004 look for the CVA_742_9 subfolder, located in the Flight Simulator 9/Aircraft folder. Open the Aircraft.cfg with notepad and scroll down to the [Effects] section.

Locate the line that says...

concrete=Opensky_sparks,1

Add two forward slashes to the front of the line so it appears like so..

//concrete=Opensky_sparks,1

Save the file and close it

For FSX, the procedure is the same however the Aircraft.cfg file is locate in the Sim Objects/Airplanes folder and is called CVA_742_X.

With this, you can drag your tail all the way to the terminal and will have no sparks.

Cheers
