I love the old Dash 7 work horse of Air Canadian when it was flying but there are no routes for it, I expect it is classisfied as a cargo plane Can we sub it for one ofthe other planes in Cargo of the same class .

Hi Burton,

The Dash7 is a great plane and yes it is classified as a Class 1 aircraft, in our Cargo section. I believe that you should be able to simply fly a standard Class 1 route with this aircraft and choose the appropriate plane from your aircraft type i n the FSAcars flight plan.

For example - CVA Route / Flight # CVA4020 from CYUL to CYXU uses a Dash8 and as such you could instead choose to use a Dash7.

Our resident route expert - Chuck Dickey - can likely further comment on this for confirmation but I believe this is possible.

Chuck?

Cheers!

Hi Burton, Darryl is correct. As time goes on, new aircraft will quite likely be added to the fleet. At this time, we have no plans to redo all of our routes to accommodate the new aircraft. You can use any aircraft you like for a flight as long as it is in the same class as the listed aircraft.

For example, a flight may be listed for the Airbus A319...I happen to like Boeings more, so I could substitute the Boeing 737-800 for the A319 since they are both Class 3 aircraft.

If you have any questions as to the class of an aircraft, just visit the download page. All aircraft have their class listed.

I am still restricted to class 1 aircraft so could I use maybe a Dash-8 on a Lear45 route or on an ERJ-45LR route? I've all ready done that. Whoops.

Hi Justin,

I Just checked your hours so far and I see that you have 10.32 hours accumulated so far.

This means that you are now qualified to fly Class 1 . These aircraft are as follows.

Class 1 Class 2
(Turboprop) (Jetliner)
Baron CRJ-200
DH8-300 F100
King Air Learjet
PC12

Please keep in mind that if you are flying a multi flight you are cleared to fly whatever the other pilots are flying for the event.

This information can be found if you click "INFORMATION" button on the CVA Home Page.

Yep, promotion!

Couple of things.

1) On my Pilot Centre page, it shows that I am still a Flight Officer, not a Senior. I know I am one because my hours are at that level. Maybe a glitch on auto-promoting or does an administrator have to approve it?

2) In the Information page/Members Handbook, it says I need 25 hours to operate class 2 aircraft. I, as you said, only have 10 hours. Still stuck to Class 1 according to that. So, what Marty just wrote is kind of conflicting with the handbook.

Anyone who can clear these up, please post! :)

You were shown as a Flight Officer even though you had enough hours because the flight that put you over the 10 mark had no been approved yet. It is now approved and you are now a Senior Flight Officer! :D

Hi Justin,

I will be revising the CVA Information document in the near future and as the document reads right now your are correct that you should only be flying Class 1 aircraft.

That being said....I will discuss with the management team and we'll be posting an update shortly.

Stay Tuned!

Oh - by the way - the B737-400 is a Class 3 aircraft...not a Class 2.

Cheers!

Too bad i'll be away for two weeks and will have to earn those hours then. Unless I can squeeze in 13 hours in the next 2 days...

Thanks for the info! :)
