So am I not just installing it correct but is there no 3d cockpit on this also, the textures for the model is not applying themselves. I need longer routes then the ones offered for the BKA-350, If that is not possible is there any way I can apply the BKA-350's 3d cockpit to the Dash-400?

I had problems with the Dash 8-400, I used the Dash 8-300 instead.

I had only 20% functions on my dash 8 300, but my dash 8 400 works perfectly - although the panel is kind of stone age looking! (FS9)

Rob, try this dash8-400. Its a beauty with modern updated panel complete with working VASfmc. It's a dreamwings model so Chucks CVA textures work with it. It's available at flightsim.com. The file is dh8dmah2.zip

Hey Bill, I'm in the middle of installing this bird and I can't find this 'navupdate' it wants me to unzip and run. Any ideas?

Not sure Paul. I think I downloaded the updates, for the fmc, from navgraph.

Ah. I see. It looks like it won't matter though. I got it all up and running, taxied a bit then CTD. After that I couldn't get that aircraft to load again, kept crashing. I think it demands a little too much outa my system. Mine's pretty low end though, so don't let that discourage others who may want to install it. When it was running I was drooling!!!! :cool: :p

I will run with what I installed before I read this post, which is actually still the dreamwings q-400, just with a crappy generic type panel. I'll use my simple FMC instead.

Sorry it didn't work out for you, Paul. I've had no problems with it.

Bill, thanks for this. I finally got around to installing it and it looks really great. Now I just have to figure out how to move the panel over to our own a/c, and learn how to use it.

Paul, where are you? Havin't heard from you for a while. I went from 2 to 3 GB RAM on my XP 32 bit system a few months ago in order to fix a stuttering VC. Turns out my system can now handle a LOT of good stuff. I have no problem running this package (yet!).

cheers

I'm having trouble getting the CVA textures to work with this dash 8. I have no experience with this stuff, except for following directions. But looking at the files, it seems like I should just be able to copy and paste the textures.CVA files from the existing CVA dash 8-400 to the new one. Is there more or something different I should do.

I pasted the CVA texture and deleted 3 of the 4 existing textures, but the original 4 textures still show up in the Choose A/C menus.

Just guessing but, check the aircraft.cfg file for the 400.
Probably has a listing of textures in it.

Simple like dirt Chief!

Inside the CVA_DHC_Q400 folder, you will find a folder called texture.CVA. Copy that entire folder and paste it inside your Dreamwings Dash 8 -Q400 Malév folder.

Now, open the aircraft.cfg file found inside the Dreamwings Dash 8 -Q400 Malév folder. You will see a bunch of [fltsim.xx] entries. The xx will be numbers that change for each livery. If you have not done any config modifications yet, there should be four liveries installed starting at fltsim.0 to fltsim.3. If that is the case, copy the text below and paste it into the config file below the last fltsim entry and save the file. You should be good to go!!

[fltsim.4]
title=Dreamwings Dash 8 -Q400 CVA2
sim=Dash8Q400
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=CVA
checklists=
ui_manufacturer=Canadian Virtual
ui_type=Dash 8
ui_variation=Q400 FMC
description=Dreamwings Dash8
atc_id=C-GLQB
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=CANADIAN
atc_flight_number=

Hope this helps!

No luck. I put the CVA texture folder into the Dreamwings aircraft folder along with the other 4 texture folders, then added your text to the Dreamwings aircraft.cfg file. It all looks simple. But no 5th variation shows up in the select new aircraft menus for the Dreamwings Q400.

I have FS9. I'll keep fiddling.

I use FS-X and not in front of the gamer right now, but don't you also have an entry in the config file that says how many textures you want to load? Something like TextureCount=03 that has to be increased by 1 or something like that?

Or I could be thinking of something totally different, maybe panels.
