Recently, some of the new members are having problems getting the private voice channel (FSInn) to work during the multi's. I had problems at first too, and I know it is frustrating. Here are some snips of my settings in FSX that I hope might help:

Guys, please add to, comment on, or correct. I think a good guide on how to do this would be a good addition to the forum as a sticky.

Barry, you're not getting the most out of FSinn. This is how I have stuff set up.

Radio within FS-X (can tune to Montreal ground and ATIS at the same time):

FSFDT control panel reflects FS-X radio stack:

Separate buttons on yoke to talk on FS-X or private VA:

This lets me talk to Montreal Ground on Comm1, Montreal ATIS on Comm2, text on Unicom and talk on private VA voice pretty much all at the same time:

I reinstalled FS-X a few days ago to clear a Level-D lighting problem and lost my keys config in FS-X so my talk buttons no longer work (still looking for what I'm missing, vaguely remember something about F11 and F12, just not sure where). :D

What do you guys have set in the mixer settings?

I'm wondering if this is why my voice is so weak for some of you.

I deleted Button 1 and 2 assignments for controller 1 in FS-X and everything seems to be working fine now. I thought I had to do to get the buttons to work.

Thank-you so much for trying to help getting our FSINN set up and working , but the things you show above have been tried by both Daniel CVA0311 and myself many many times , with absolutely no success.

I'm trying to get my FSX on my new computer working , and Daniel is one of our new members. I have always been flying on the Vatsim servers with my old computer and FS9 for all these years and it still works perfectly with Squawk Box.

Today I've been working on trying to get this FSINN going , all afternoon, and this is why I did not have time do a "Recap" of the multi flight , and I still have not had any luck with FSINN.

Our symptoms ;
We both can get connected to the Vatsim servers and we do show up on ServInfo. but we both can't get our "push to talk" to work.
He can hear ATC talking but I can't.
We both can't connect to private channel either. I know this because I don't see him in Squawk Box Private Channel box (on my old computer).
We both can hear any "ATIS" frequency that we tune to.

I'm getting to the point that I am going to give up on FSINN and try Squawk Box , because there just does not seem to be any help for trouble shooting for the FSINN program.

Perhaps next weekend I'll try to find some time to work on it some more.

???

Yeah, I heard you calling him. I tried replying but my 2 buttons weren't registering for some reason.

Does FSinn require FSUIPC?

I use FSinn over a network with FScopilot and it worked fine until my recent re-install.

What version of FSinn are you using?

Did you update SF-X?

You are right, FSinn Help files are non-existent. To Be Added Later; there's nothing even for French speaking users (except maybe the forum, and even that isn't much help).

Some thoughts:

Make sure there are no firewalls and/or virus protections running-at least while getting things set up. They seem to cause all sorts of problems.

I wouldn't do anything without FSUIPC installed. Why not? Seems most everything added on these days requires it.

Check FSInn help forum stickys on VATSIM site if you haven't already.

Here's a quote I found:
"Resolved my communication problem in FSinn. I was able to communicate with ATC, but FSX background noise
was cutting in and out, very annoying! Since I have a quad-core system, I had it enabled in the FSinn drop down menu.
When I disabled it, and enabled only one processor (first option), it eliminated the FSX engine, and environment noises
from cutting in and out. I also disabled peer to peer in the network setting to eliminate the aircraft bounceing when parked.
It also resolved the double aircraft image when viewed from spot view. I also changed the voice options from "default mapper"
to wave mic, wave headphones, and wave speakers.
Also as a precaution, best to leave firewall disabled. It can cause alot of unusual communications behavior, like hearing ATC,
but they cant hear you. Had to reboot several times till I figured that one out."

Good luck. It took me weeks. And when I finally did get working I was glad to forget it all.

Marty, I'm slowly switching to FSX on my new computer too. I noticed that FSX started quickly on its own, but once I had installed FSUIPC, it took a loooooooong time to start up and so did SB. If that sets off any alarm bells, let me know what to do. I am using FSUIPC unregistered, as i did with FS9 even though I have registered (I just never bothered to install the registered version).

Rob, I'm not sure if you are asking me something or not. I did not register for FSUIPC , if that's what you mean , but I did install FSUIPC (unregistered) in both versions of FS.

For me , in FS9 , Squawk Box always did require a little wait for it to boot up , but I'm used to that.

I have not tried Squawk Box in FSX ,,,, YET ! :;):

I figured out why my 2 PTT buttons stopped working, I accidentally unset the DX Mode switch in the CH yoke profile.

(documenting for the next time I re-install)

(and a little bit more documentation)

I just figured out the orange XMIT light on the FSinn VVL shortcut bar only turns on when the frequency is opened by ATC. Only the main purple XMIT lights turns on if no ATC is present on frequency.

And that pic above might also help some of you. That priority channel switch, press that to set priority on one channel; com1, com2 or VA chat.

I set whatever channel I use for ATC as priority, that way VA chat does not talk over ATC.

Some use SimConnect.

But you are right, it doesn't hurt to install FSUIPC, I have both on FS-X and it works fine.

The freeware FSUIPC is the same as payware, it's just entering a key (if I'm not mistaken). I use the payware version because I use WideFS for network PCs, but the freeware is good for 99% of users.

One more thing about FSUIPC, if you ever have weird problems, re-install FSUIPC. Some add-ons install their own FSUIPC module, and that may be outdated.
