The announcement is that George Brown is the winner of best in fuel consumption from Toronto to Allentown. He managed to get an average 28.77 Lbs per minute burn. Thank you for the fantastic job by all who participated. I will get the awards together and send them to Chuck to get posted in your pilot files.

Congrats George! Yeah for real tell us your secret! (especially to me since all my attempts were disqualified LOL!)

Next time we have another challenge like this my goal will be not to be disqualified!

Congrats George! Good to see we have some pilots keeping our financials in order with good fuel burns :D

Special Thanks to all those who participated but mostly to Frank Senecal for putting this challenge together for the pilots!

Cheers!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the support from you all.

Now as for the secret to the frugal fuel consumption.

1. Start out with as little fuel as possible, but enough to have a legal quantity on arrival - less weight, less fuel use.
2. Watch the speed, throttle settings and fuel consumption readings in flight - throttle setting did not exceed 75% in flight.
3. Fly as high as the service ceiling and/or regulations will allow. I think my altitude was FL330.
4. Approach to runway done at minimum safe speed to minimize reverse thrust time after touch down.
5. Use a flight plan that minimizes flying time between airports.

BTW, make sure FSACARS records all your flight data. First three flights were not recorded properly, thus flights were invalid. :(

Good going, George. So your unrecorded flights could have been even better. They were probably good practice.

As for #5, I am not sure I agree. Seems that it is the average that counts, which is figured out using whatever distance you flew, no?

I just figured if I got into a "convoluted" STAR for KABE, more fuel would be used because of extended flap settings and engine speed, were a "straight-in" approach would use less fuel. Otherwise, you may be correct.
