Hi guys (and did someone say there are some gals out there?),

I have been reading on VATSIM forums that there are preferences for the content of ATC communications (voice or text?) in different regions (http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php? ... 620a78eee2). I'm wondering if there are any CYYZ/CZYZ preferences that a new pilot should know about. Do we say "with you", do we put our callsign at the end, do we say which FL we are at as well as the one we are aiming for, etc?
Rob

LOL...I'm one of thoses scared of ATC...ask James...lol....I have a sickness called "Gott Disconnect NOW Syndrome" :D

It's weird , I read everything and try to practice it on by writing scenarios BUT when I hear that voice, my brain take off to Hawaii ....And I'm in CYVR parking spot...???
I simply blank out...Can control it and , darn, I've been a trucker for 22 yrs ..dealing with CB's and dispatchers. I think it's fear of utter failure online that freeze my gumball inside my bucket..

I'll keep trying tho...Must've left my parts on Hwy 5 ..:D

Tom, I'm off to BC for two weeks but when I get back, I'd be happy to get online with you and start by just talking on private message. Come to think of it, there's people here that will do that with you AND who have experience! I've been meaning to ask them to do the same thing with me. :p

Have you also flown whole trips with the MSFS ATC? I use their menu to talk back, but I repeat it all out loud just to get used to it.

22 years with CB. There's no doubt this is not going to take you long!

I went to the lower mainland (YVR, Parksville, Pemberton, Lillooet, Penticton and Harrison hot springs). Haven't seen a computer for two weeks.

I had beaver tail in Prince George 25 years ago, though. I was a tree planter near Smithers and was hitch hiking through and got picked up by a native guy who fed me the real deal. The only beaver tails I see now are deep fried flat bread on the Rideau Canal in winter!
