I have a hard time usiing SLEW "Y" on the keyboard.

I have been hunting for a way to change the speed at which the aircraft move across the ground, what I would call for lack of a better term "SLEW RATE".

Mine is completely un usable as the aircraft immediatly shoots of in one direction or another. Depending on which way my Force Feedback Joystick might lean when I hit the "Y key".

Changing the Joy sensitivites back and forth just to backup would be a big pain the the BUM.

Can I just turn off the SLEW connection to the joystick, and control it via the keyboard....

With a small Aircraft turning around on the spot has not been a problem, but I can see it becomiing a VERY big one in about 10 hours of flight time.

Thanks for the HELP.......to whoever can provide it.

James/CVA69..........

Hi James...

What I've done is change the keyboard assignments so the num pad keys control the slew, and nothing else. Takes the joystick outta the picture.

Hope that helps...

Cheers!

Nope...

I think when the day comes that I stop learning, somebody had better take my pulse...I probably suffered a fatal heart attack.

Cheers!

Hey James, if all you want to do is back up, you can use Shift+P to simulate the pushback that the planes actually use, then use Shift+P to stop. there is ways to turn when backing up to, I have never quite gotten the hang of it myself, think you hit 1 and 2. Anyway, not sure if thats what you are looking for or not, but hope it helps anyway :;):

To pushback and make a turn you can use:

Pushback with Left Turn - Shift P and then click 1 right afterwards.

Pushback with Right Turn - Shift P and then click 2 right afterwards.

Your pushback will begin straight and then execute a left or right turn after a short distance. To stop your pushback hit Shift P again.

or look for the groundhandling gauge on AVSIM. Or email me and I can send it to you...

It's a nice little gauge that automates pushbacks and controls taxi speed for you. Comes with sound files. Very handy!

Cheers!

As soon as you hit Y for slew hit the number 5 on your keypad.

This will give you "neutral" slew and counteract your joystick if it's leaning over.

You may then use your keypad for small increments of change, 8 for forward, 2 for back, 6 for right and 4 for left. 5, again, will cancel your movement.
