Type of plane Beechcraft A36 Cessna 410, any propeller that cruises at least at 140 and no more than 200. What would a good descent rate be, before people in the plane start to feel queasy or sick. Someone mentionned 500 feet, but I find that mighty low. |

I find that 700 fpm is still comfortable; 1,000 fpm starts to hint at giving some people trouble (non-pressurized a/c). Going above that, especially in a slick aircraft such as the ones you describe, may easily cause an overspeed. Generally, most pilots plan on 500 fpm and start their descents accordingly since much cruising is done well below 10,000 ft. I do the 1,000 - 1,500 fpm descents mainly due to search and rescue exercises where I am but a short distance from the airport but at 8,500 to 9,500 feet AGL. Even then, I have to circle at these high rate descents if I want to get back before everyone else (flying at 1,500 ft) eats all the sandwiches! |

I know when the young lad before he started with West Jet on the 700 and just got told yesterday he's going Capt . here next month was using 1/2 the ground speed on the Jazz Dash 8 he was driving so if he was grounding 400 desent was 2,000 ft per min. |
