the development of the CRJ regional jet Academy training package is well underway. The first 4 modules are completed and ready for a run through by 'test pilots' - the remainder are almost completed.

The package will eventually involve 7 flights from +45 to 1+45 in duration and involves a mix of VFR and IFR flight procedures. It has been developed to utilize the Wilco/FeelThere CRJ-200 payware package and the Project Opensky CRJ-200 freeware model. If CVAviators would like to be involved in proofreading the documents, flying the missions and giving me feedback - please respond to this post with your name, callsign and CRJ model you have on your cpu.

Duuuuuhhhhh! Like you really had to ask. Tom McCall, CVA39, Posky (will probably buy the Wilco). Just put me on the list for the rest of 'em too, save me the trouble of responding to your desperate pleas for help, okay!

I repeat what Tom just said... if you need me I am here... as long as you are happy with my comments from the last batch...

Cheers Rod

any links on how to merge the posky and the wilco package?

That supplied model is terrible.

not sure which supplied model you are referring to Devon - if it's the one avail at the current CVAAE page - those are all under review.

We plan on using the posky CRJ-200 freeware model as our base updated with FDE 2004_8_2. This seems to be 'not bad' flight model and is reasonably consistent with the Wilco model in terms of performance, speeds, fuel burn etc. Although I haven't done a ton of flight testing of the posky - there doesn't seem to a better available freeware model for FS2002/2004.

As to merging the models not sure why one would bother - if you've got the payware it's superior.

We will have CVA liveries for both with the release of the new CVA. I am having a bit of trouble finding a good FS9 CRJ panel. Have downloaded and installed a few Hector Molina panels that look ok but cannot get the gauges to display properly. The posky ships with a modified Lear panel that, in my opinion, is not suitable.

ok - managed to get the molina panel in a ver3 -- hm_crjv3.zip -- to display properly but still not 100% pleased with it - but it is the nicest FS9 CRJ panel around (that I have found). Am testing a few CRJ sound files to determine the best available for the CVA fleet.

Tom and Rod - looks like once more you are my intrepid test pilot team for the CRJ series. They are similar to the DH8 series but with a few twists that I hope you will fine edutaining. I have also developed a 7th lesson in the DH8 series - final route check flight - that was not available when you testflew that series. More of a flightplanning/fuelplanning exercise than a series of maneouvers.

I will attempt to get the initial 5 CRJ lessons to you (still in development of 6/7)

Unlikely - terrible fps hits...but nevermind - I misunderstood what you were saying.

If you get a chance, I wouldn't mind having a boo at those lesson plans myself...

Let me know...
Devon.

If you want a NewBie with some IFR and not as good @ VFR........
I'll be happy to give you a beginner/intermedate's perspective on it:)

James/CVA69 - Project openski, I will buy the payware if you like.

I wouldn't get too wrapped up in the payware, James - the gist of the lesson is not to wrestle with an authentic cockpit as much as it is to follow proper flight plans and procedure.

Better to focus on that. I will likely fly the regular CRJ to do any testing before I hope into the Wilco package...although, my FMC will call me back.

Rod - seemed to have misplaced (deleted) your emails - could you send me a note at zedex@nbnet.nb.ca with your current and I'll arrange getting the package to you

James and Devon - also please send me your current addresses and I'll add you to the testing roster (I'll try not to be too boring in correspondence there D)
