I was perusing the VATCAN web site and found this:

Has anyone tried this. Sounds interesting.

Definitely interesting (just going by your post). But I'd have to log some serious hours before I'd give any sort of test a try.

Some comments on the VATCAN web site where they made the original announcement say that the P1 rating is pretty easy if you've flown for any length of time. But that it makes for a good refresher, and that it can reveal some sloppiness in your procedures. One guy said he enjoyed it especially just becuase it was a RW pilot who did the checkride and the guy gave him a lot of interesting tips.

I'm trying this out. There seems to be some VFR material. But it's not rocket science. It's aircraft science!

Maybe it could be included as a recommended, but not mandatory course for all cva pilots and mentioned in the pilots handbook?

How about an award in the award section of our profile for our efforts and a little signature badge as a "medal"

Yes that would give our pilots that edge.


We used to have "Gold" and "Silver" Wings, don't know what happened to that.

This is true, I remember this. The silver wings where awarded after passing the 20 question on line exam and the gold wings was issued in rare and special occasions to members that have given extraordinary support and work at CVA.

The training is from VATCAN, by the way.

i decide to give a try on t his and i joined 2 weeks before , registered , and when i opened my log bok in that says my next dual session is arranged with instructor james bishop and asked to contact him to arrange the session , i mailed him on the same date till date nothing hear from him,.

I see Vatsim has launched a Training Academy. What's every ones thoughts?

Only thing I do not like is you have to Join other VA in order to go to different levels of training.

As Vatsim themselves does not offer anything other than Basic and Instructor.

Yes I did do it and got my P1 rating. It was actually quite basic and required a flight on-line.
