Shalom and greetings all my pals,

Here is nice traditional holiday flight from ESSA Stockholm Arlanda Airport located near the town of Märsta 20 nautical miles of Stockholm, Sweden to bring lucky passengers to official Santa Claus airport better known as EFRO Rovaniemi Airport located 6 miles north of city center of Rovaniemi, Finland or 2 miles away from Santa Claus Village and Santa Claus Park. The Arctic Circle actually crosses the runway closer to its northern end.

Starting engines in -5 degree temperature snow storm

Taxiing to short of runway 08

Still taxiing

Entering into runway 08 for take off via RESNA departure

Image

Holding position on runway 08 waiting for take off clearance due to extremely heavy traffic in Finnish airspace

Finally airborne on climb to FL350 heading to RESNA

Wing view of making right turn to intercept RESNA

After finishing right turn now starting to head to RESNA still on climb to FL350 battling through heavy clouds and powerful snowstorm

Image

Image

Wow The clouds are higher than the plane at FL200 still climbing to FL350

Still climbing to FL350 with background view of Uppsala, Sweden

Gorgeous wing view of sunset

Gorgeous wing view of sunset while engine cover was blanketed with flashing bulb by some passenger's camera during intercepting of RESNA to start M607 route straight to EFRO

Entering Gulf of Bothnia to cruise above the gulf at FL350

Crossing Gulf of Bothnia

Cruising at FL350 above the gulf between Sweden and Finland

Image

Passing ESNU Umeå Airport located on the southern outskirts of the city of Umeå, Sweden

Image

WOW Finnish air space was getting very very heavy according to the radar map

Image

Wing view showing Boeing 747 flight number FLV13 flying from EFRO to EGKK Gatwick

Image

Passing ESPA Luleå Airport located about 3 miles south-southeast of Luleå, Sweden which is known for longest runway in entire Sweden to attract heavy long-distance cargo flights and in particular to serve as a fuel stop for cargo flights from such cities in England, Scotland, and Ireland to Japan or China or Asia.

Wing view of city of Rovaniemi and EFRO

Image

Passing the Santa Claus city or Rovaniemi and very busy EFRO

Image

Nice view of busy airport and look at LEARJET 45 flight number VKG303 on final runway approach after flight from EKCH Kastrup airport

On final approach to runway 21

I am too embarrassed to comment on this taxiway sign :):):):)

Image

TOUCHDOWN on extremely icy runway at -30 degree temperature snowstorm

Image

Braking down on very icy runway

Image

Because the runway was so icy, I had decided for safety reasons to use up all runway for braking down gently to prevent skidding out of control

Image

Image

Exiting from end of runway to taxi to gate

Image

Look how busy the airport was with a plane on final approach to runway

Image

Taxiing with background view of weird NONEDITED skylight

Image

Look at more planes on final runway approach!!

Thank you for viewing this flight report and please stay tuned for next exciting flight!!! AND PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR PART TWO OF TRADITIONAL HOLIDAY FLIGHT FROM SANTA CLAUS AIRPORT

Regards,

Aharon

I think the map is really disoriented and the towns are in wrong place. Some kind of Christmas magic maybe?

Aharon,

Great shots - especially the one with the taxiway sign.

However there is an explanation: As the price of JET-A is astronomical now days the mighty Finnish Air force has cut down the flights of the F-18 Hornets. The poor pilots have to find something to do during the long dark days and nights of the Lappland winter. Therefore they have put up that sign
