Way back in the day (January or February) me and Robert started thinking about adding some Orbx airports to the CVA roster. I was playing with Tim Conrads PC-6 and he was playing with the PMDG 767. Time moved on and I started playing with other airplanes but we didn't forget what we had discussed. I asked for a few Alberta routes and he has obliged! I meant for this to be with the PC-6 by Piglet but I'm playing with the OZx grumman right now so consider this a SNAFU by management, why on earth they would send a Grumman goose to the prairies for maintenance is beyond all of us but they did!
Orbx released a couple of freeware addons for Alberta when they released their "NRM" (Northern Rocky Mountains) package and here are some shots of Piglets, I mean the OZx grumman departing CEN4 for CEJ4 in the beautiful Canadian Praires. Some of you may recognize the scenery as being the same as what CVA uses for it's Aerobatics training ground for the P-51...

I don't know, Big Dog keeps giving me lousy routes for some reason. This place looks like it could have been right out of the movie "The Shining"

Hope you enjoyed!

Very nice paint :P

When I used to work on the Grumman goose (We had 3 at Transprovincal Airlines)
all the control surfaces were fabric, I noticed some rivits on one of the ailerons.
The bottom of the fusalage and floats were always painted and had huge chucks of zinc bolted to the keel
it helped combat electrolysis by keeping the water away from the bare metal.....

No oil on the tarmac, better get some in the engine before she's a goner....... LOL
those Pratt & Whitney 985s were were bad for oil leaks

just FYI, nice paint :)

I remember a high school teacher telling me that zinc would "sacrifice" itself to corrosion. I had/have no idea about the control surfaces! The rivits you see are straight from the OZx modellers but I've played with some bump/normal mapping on Piglets Porter so I think I'm going to get rid of them on the "goose" now. I hope you don't mind if when I get it accomplished I send you the files to "ok" :) I don't know how you feel but firing up a "repaint" is like doing a Sunday morning crossword puzzle for me :) PM me with any details on how the control surfaces look like in reality if you could!

Gary

I don't think you can do much to make it look like fabric, try looking at a Super cub tail, just nice and smooth. :)

LOL!

And I really love how the tail looks. The most realistic part to my mind. Great stuff.

Well, they read your post and made me work all night to get that dang undercarriage painted.

Not that I mind so much but I still have to work my day job as well you know. Working at CVA security is boring enough let alone after pulling an all nighter. Last week they had me out at runway 2 checking for incursions.....

It really does look realistic up close. OZx really sweated the details and the result is anything you slap on there looks good.

Awesome Gary!!!! Truly AWESOME!!!

Oh - and those crappy routes are because we had a fight with Air Canada about Gate assignments....as you can see...we lost the premium gate access :D

Cheers!
