Shalom and greetings all my pals,

I am enjoying re-creating flights that I see on cool tv show called NWT ICE PILOTS.

Here is freezing -40 degree weather flight from CYBE Uranium City Airport located 4 NM 5 miles east of Uranium City, Saskatchewan, Canada to CYZF Yellowknife Airport located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada.

After finishing delivering 10,000 litres of automotive fuel to Uranium City now boarding cockpit for return flight from CYBE to CYZF

Image

Gorgeous view of icy passenger/cargo apron of CYBE during -40 degree snowstorm

Image

Finished with pushback and now getting ready to start engines

Image

Engines started!!!!

Image

Entering into runway 24 for more taxi and backtracking while battling tough snowstorm

Image

Taxiing while sunrise shines on the plane

Image

Still taxiing with background view of fuel storage tanks where the plane had previously unloaded fuel into

Image

Backtracking is complete and now holding position on runway 24 revving up engines as part of required engine runup to make sure they would perform in -40 degree snowstorm weather

Image

Airborne on climb to 10,000 ft now entering thick clouds

Image

Now cruising at 10,000 ft (darn I should have picked 8,000 ft which would put my plane right on same level as top of clouds)

Image

Wow thick clouds!!!

Image

Image

Ahhh clouds have been cleared away

Image

Intercepting YSM above Slave River that flows from Lake Athabasca in northeastern Alberta and empties into Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories and this precise location is renowned for rapids that are considered some of the best and most dangerous whitewater kayaking in the world.

Image

Cruising past CYSM Fort Smith Airport located near Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, Canada

Image

Time to descent from 10,000 ft to 2,000 ft!!!

Image

Descending through clouds

Image

Image

Seconds before touchdown on CYZF runway 33 in middle of powerful foggy snowstorm

Image

Image

TOUCHDOWN on icy runway

Image

Exiting from runway 33 into taxiway A on way to gates while battling heavy snow and fog as well as icy runway

Image

Image

Arrived at gate and powering down engines

Image

Image

Thank you for viewing!! Stay tuned for next exciting flight!!!

Regards,

Aharon

Good stuff. Love your paints. THAT is where you really shine. And all free stuff, huh?

But I definitely feel conflicted when I hear -40c and see what looks more like water on the runway. I can't remember what I used to get last winter, but I think it was dry runways with snow blowing around?
