I've been playing with Tim Conrad's freeware Porter for months and the only thing I didn't like about it was the dirt! He did such a great job of recreating the grime and implanting the thought of a dog hanging out in the plane that I was scratching myself all over every time I'd take it out! So I took a toothbrush to her and cleaned it up inside and out and gave it a fresh coat of yet another unofficial CVA blue. Here's a few pictures and a link to a slideshow for anyone interested.

Heading for the West Coast

Parked in British Columbia

Three or four shots showing my very first attempt ever at bump/normal mapping in FSX!

The original bump mapping didn't have any rivets or panel lines so I added them myself!

Completely redid the interior it's not quite done yet (no shading or wear and tear)

and finally, flying off into the sunset!

Hope you enjoyed and if you like check out the slideshow of more pictures of the Porter via the link below

:) Thanks Aharon!
Did you have a particular dog-racing event or team in mind? If you have a link maybe I can slap a logo on the side of the plane. "Official Doggy-do supplier for.... or something of the likes :D

Great job so far, I can't wait to take it out for a fly. What airport are you parked at in the second picture? and how did you get those baggage carts there? is it an FTX airport?

I have done a bit of repainting work myself but this paint job puts me to shame!

Its PAPG (Johnson Petersburg) CVA flight 1022. Although I've just noticed it's listed as "Petersburg Seaplane Base" on the CVA "Schedule Details" page (I bet Robert will be all over that ;) ) The baggage carts came part and parcel with Tongass Fjords X.
And thanks for the compliment! I'm not really the artistic type but it is fun hacking away at a paint job, and now that I discovered bump mapping I've discovered I've just scratched the surface!

Keith and Cal,
Thanks as well! The irony is I was hoping to get half as good as you guys! :) and I'm almost there!

Great job so far, Gary. She looks like she was just rolled off the lot yesterday.

Ha ha Gary You do not have to do that:):):) Besides there is no room on both sides of your plane to paint words!!

Gary,

It looks great. Can you make the dog sled paint more visible instead of faded??

Also, you should change from "Fly canadianva.com" to "Dog Sled Team Sponsored By Canadian Virtual"

This will be great for all bush pilots. I even have top secret plans for CVA events for bush pilots:):):)

I will not even fit into this plane anyway. I am too tall for this plane.

Aharon

It actually looks better when there are no shadows like in the picture hang until you see the finished product and see what you think :)

Again, you can't really see it in the picture but the Iditarod races uses a slogan "The Last Great Race" and under the word "Iditarod" itself on the logo I made up are the words "Great race supply line"

I'm working on something myself to release with the plane (if I can persuade management that is) I wanted to see if I can get the following routes added to the schedule:
Image
and have a Plan-G "plan" included with the plane so those routes would be a "charter" if you will. Remember though this picture is only showing the southern route so far I have more work to do to it. Here's a picture of the route so far as I have planned it out in Plan-G:

How tall are you? I'm 6'2" and all I have to do is lower my desk chair a little and I fit fine ;)

Gary,

I actually have plans in future for dog sled racing CVA event that will be on same month as the real one being held NOT only in Alaska BUT also in Yukon Trail too!!

Two dog sled race CVA events.

Like the list and map that you showed, that is part of my plan BUT it will NOT be too many stops as I do not want Frank to go crazy creating 30 routes in CVA database. My plan would be three or four stops from start of race to Nome. It will be class 1 prop event and class 2 (ONLY 727 or 732 as it can handle 4,000 ft rough strips)

Stay tuned. It will be announced one week before real race so that the CVA event will be conducted in conjunction with the race. Best part of my future plan for this event is that all of CVA pilots get to pick the musher and his or her dog sled to provide support via plane supplying using 3 or 4 stops.

This plan will be also similar for Yukon Trail dog race too.

Look what I did with my bush flights before as seen on my map progress below:

Image

The Iditarod race is on March 2013. So I have plenty of time to plan this for the CVA event. Also, Yukon Dog Race is on Feb 2013. So Yukon will be first CVA event for dog race. The Iditarod will be second one.

Aharon
