I worked up there in the 80s and 90s (6.5 years winter and summer) and they didn't do much flying at -30, we had many grocery and fuel planes
that didn't show up in the camps north of Yellowknife because of the cold. It's just a show, they have to
make it exciting or it wouldn't be on TV. If half the stuff happen on the show really happened, Transport Canada
would have shut them down. Ya shit happens but not enough to keep the show exciting.
AT -35 it would take me a good hour of pre-heating to get 1 engine and transmission warm enough to start,
battery was taken out every night to keep it warm. after removing the heat you have about 5 minutes to get a start
or it's back to square one.
