Shalom and greetings all my pals,
Last August, there was a very powerful 130 mile per hour Hurricane Irene hitting Bahamas. Although its major city Nassau escaped major destruction suffering only minor and trivial landscape damage, Bahamas' many islands suffered serious damage with many family houses severely damaged that would required emergency repairs particularly to roofs of the houses.
This required lots of lumber wood and construction materials to be airlifted to Bahamas!!!
Hence I flew many EMERGENCY BAHAMAS AIRLIFT flights hauling emergency supplies from various locations to MYNN Lynden Pindling International Airport located in western New Providence island near the capital city of Nassau.
Let me present to all of you two flights from MWCR Owen Roberts International Airport located in George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
Arrived and parked at gate 1A at MWCR where you can see flooding effects of heavy rain from the nearby hurricane
Waiting for emergency construction supplies to be loaded
Loaded and ready for pushback on early morning!!!!
Almost completing the pushback
Entering into runway 08 from Charlie runway
Backtracking at beginning of runway 08
Airborne on climb to FL350 entering into clouds making right turn to position to head to KANEX to head to cross Cuba via UB767
Climbing though clouds
Emerging from above clouds while maneuvering to avoid strong tuberlances
Now top of heavy clouds turning left back to UB767 route
Are those clouds gorgeous????
Still making corrections to get into UB767 route fighting against winds
ahhh clouds are clearing up to the point you can see Caribbean waters!!
Is it gorgeous??
Weather is getting better!!!
Cruising across Carribbean water via UB767 to intercept UCA in center of Cuba
After intercepting UCA and leaving Cuba now cruising to Bahamas via UG437 or G437
Now on descending from 35,000 ft to 3,000 ft entering through clouds
Now below clouds at 4,000 ft. Darn we never get break from bad weather!!
Seconds from touchdown on MYNN runway 09
TOUCHDOWN!!!
Engaging reverse thrusters
Exiting from runway 09 to taxi to terminal
Crossing runway 14 on way to gates
Taxiing to terminal
Arrived at gate to unload emergency construction supplies to be transferred to smaller propeller planes to fly to Bahamas islands
You can see prop plane at right upper corner waiting for supplies to be transferred from 767-300ERF
Another plane departed in much clearer and nicer weather from MWCR to head to MYNN via same route as in first flight
Wing view of gorgeous water which signaled that Bahamas was getting closer
At 10,000 ft on way to MYNN
Intercepting DYNAH off some Bahamas island to start maneuvers to approach MYNN runway 09
Crossing some Bahamas island that had lots of floods from the hurricane
Oh no oh no heavy rains hit Bahamas again!!!
Seconds from touchdown
TOUCHDOWN!!
Braking down
Exiting from runway 09 to taxi to terminal
Crossing runway 14
Powered down engines and being connected to airport tractor to be pulled into tight space of terminal apron full of parked planes
Being pulled into the terminal gate
Arrived at the gate unloading emergency supplies to be transferred to prop planes and jet planes including loaded Bahamasair 732 capable of short runway landings which just left the gate to head to one of Bahamas islands
Thank you for viewing and please stay tuned for next exciting flights including two more flights to Bahamas from Jamaica!!!
Regards,
Aharon
