Early this evening at Edmonton International Airport, Minister of National Defence, Peter MacKay and Chief of Defence Staff, General Walter Natynczyk, along with several other senior Canadian Forces officials were present for the official unveiling of the RCAF's newest acquisition, the CC-173 Northstar.

Based on the versatile Boeing 737-800, the CC-173 was ordered to compliment the RCAF's current fleet of five CC-150 Polaris aircraft, which are based on the Airbus A310. A total of 5 CC-173's have been ordered, with the first aircraft being delivered today. By mid-2014, the RCAF should be in possession of all five CC-173s.

Canadian Forces photographers were on hand in the Control Tower to take some photos of the CC-173 as it taxis to the gate.

The CC-173 parked at the main terminal at Edmonton International Airport. Not only was this the official unveiling, but the aircraft also carried several members of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry back home after a long deployment in Afghanistan.

Excellent pics and a beautiful paint Cpl. May I ask where I can obtain that paint please?

Actually, that repaint is something that I've been working on for a few months now. Still isn't complete yet as I still have to paint the horizontal stabs and flaps, plus a few little things here and there).

Once I'm done, I'll put it up on a file share.

Great job Kris! I'm looking forward to adding it to my fleet when you release it :)

Thanks all. Once it's all said and done (might not be for a while, since I only really get around to painting it every so often), it'll be up on my fileshare. And it's also just a repaint for the default FSX B738 in case anyone is wondering.

And because I'm so cheap, this is all done in MS Paint. Not a bad little tool if you know how to use it. And for those who noticed that it's VERY similar looking to the CC-150 Polaris, there's a very good reason for that. I just adapted the paint scheme from the Polaris to suit a 737. Not too hard to do, but there were some differences that took a bit of work to make look good.
