You guys are killing me with these scenery packages! What an amazing difference. I'm happy for you but if I start down this road, I'll never have enough money to retire.

Alright! Another Orbix convert. Glad to hear you like it Cal. I got em all too, including Australia (great place to fly when it's winter here). Northern California is coming soon as is New Zealand. Check out RTMM (since you have Pacific Fjords) for lots of custom (fictitious) places to fly. http://return.mistymoorings.com/

I thought I should post this here, where it all started.

Orbx Full Terrain Experience (FTX) is awesomely fantastic! It's like when I went from FS9 to FSX! Everything is "right". What a great experience.

Try to get me out of the BC interior now..........

Silly me, when I built this rig I installed an SSD, I weighed the options and figured ok, 128 gig SSD install Windows 7 and program files and use the 2 TB traditional hard drive for all data, it went well installed Windows 7, an office suite a few graphics programs, FSX... tons of space left over (59 gigs of the available 120 gigs) then............... that Differdender( :) just joking Barry) guy got me hooked on twin otters and sceneries..... now I'm down to 17 gigs on the SSD have to re-evaluate the SSD usage, maybe have to take more programs off the SSD and put them on the traditional hard drive. Well, the consolation is that by the time my credit card expires I'll have an FSX dream suite and the SSD manufacturer tells me that if I leave it running 24/7 I should expect drive failure in 114 years and approximately 2 months (1 million hours). LOL I've still got my first computer down in the basement, life was so easy when I had a 2 gig hard drive.

Gary

P.S. forgot to mention that I picked up another 1TB traditional hard drive to plop in this rig for video storage. :(

Oops! sorry I guess I've offended you once again Rob? I don't mean to do this but I guess everytime I post something it pisses you off?

Hmmm. I guess the smilies aren't working out for me here. I am quite envious of you with your rig and wish I had your problems actually. Pardon my sense of humour I guess.

cheers

More than likely it's me burying my head in that aerosoft twin otter paint kit for 6 or 7 hours and then reading new posts. Pardon my post Rob, it was in the dead of the night and the heat of the moment. Apologies to everyone.
Gary

Check this out. It seems they have provided some scenery/autogen for where a forest fire occurred. I tried to confirm this by looking on Google Earth and Maps but could not be sure. It's about 30 km north of Kamloops at McLure.

cheers

I noticed that also, I was up there about 2 years ago with a Bell 212 fighting a fire at McLure lake, there is one at Barrier also,
This scenery is so good we can now use real flight maps to fly VFR now.

I think by your pic that it is Barrier.
I'm just about to T/O from Smithers to PG, I know for sure there was a fire just south west of Vanderhoof by the Dam, I'll check it out.
Do you run FSCommander 9 ? if so you should hook it up with Google earth, its a moving map. but you can see exactly where you are with place names.

Right. I see that FSC does "moving map" with Google Earth. That will be great. I assume it also does the same while tracking other a/c, which will be fun in Multis (assuming my poor Dual Core can keep up).

But I'm not sure it will help with checking the landscape every time. Here is the same shot as above, more or less, in GE. I can't really tell if there was a fire or not. It could be - there is plenty of evidence for it - but the colours make me unsure. That's why I asked for "local expertise".

CBC had a guy from Barriere talking about that fire, as context for the Slave Lake fire. It was in 2003.
