I picked myself up a Quest Kodiak! Ok, she's a used Quest Kodiak and she needs some work, she's weathered but the paint scheme (not the paint job) can't be beat! This is my first real attempt at doing a repaint so I'm hoping to hear all kinds of criticism! Here she is parked at Juneau Intl. You can see under the doors that she needs paint : The other side is no better the whole underside needs a good coat of CVA blue: But once you get her up in the air she doesn't look so bad: And you can see by the look on my face I'm a happy camper: Like the post says, criticism bashing appreciated! Gary

"I'm hoping to hear all kinds of criticism!" You call yourself a painter?! Did you use sharpies and a colouring book?! Actually, it looks pretty good. Personally I prefer a slightly darker blue and, I tend to be more of a straight line guy. I'll leave the logo comments to the professional and official CVA painters and staff but, for a first attempt I can't fault it. Good job.

Quote: But the pilot needs some fuzz whiskers It's a texture also, should be able to add the whiskers, a tad of grey in them if he's a bush pilot Looks like your getting the wear and tear look down.

Where could i download this? good job, don't understand the wear and tear with it being a Newer A/C unless it's used a awful lot but if it's something the Painter done than everyone got their own style.

Nice job on the paint, Gary. The CVA logo on the control yokes is a nice touch.

Hi all, Wow, I didn't expect so much positive feedback! Thanks for the encouraging words, I don't know if I'm actually talented enough to come up with a second one or not but you've given me motivation to try. Most of the credit goes to Lionheart Creations though, the paint kit was simple and had lots of options that could be used or hidden. Like the wear and tear layer for example and I'm not commenting on the fuzz whiskers or grey, as *that's* striking just a little to close to home... ok? Jeremy, the Kodiak is payware from the site mentioned above and I didn't even consider anyone else having any interest in grabbing a copy of it but if you want it let me know. Once again, thanks to all for the feedback! Gary

CAF440 wrote: I would love to have a copy please. By the way up here in Yellowknife we have three Kodiak's and 1 in our FOL. Bad news they belong to a Uncle Sam of the USA and have been idle here for a year. Hey Tim, I'm not really sure on the etiquette of the situation, I'm hoping someone from CVA HQ can verify that I'm not ruffling any feathers by giving it out, otherwise I'm really flattered that someone actually wants to try it Thanks for your remarks earlier on in the thread by the way, reading "It has a nice refreshing Arctic/Mountain Bush Character to me." really made it worth the effort. That is excellent work. On an official note, I hope you guys mean a copy of the texture, not the plane itself. There's nothing wrong with adding new textures in the CVA downloads section, as long as you own them or have permission to repost. Contact the head honcho and present to him your work (don't remember seeing him post in this thread). As for payware, you must go through proper channels for that. http://www.lionheartcreations.com/Kodiak.html

I've just now fired off an email to Lionheart creations seeking permission to upload my textures to CVA (that's if the head honchos agree to host them) On another note, to have it in the fleet would the aircraft need to be emblazoned with any sort of official CVA callsign lettering? Lionheart, is a great developer and individual. I have bought his Kodiak, epic, Victory and Tail wind. For thse looking for his freeware he recenly released a futuristic Boeing bland wing 797. She defies the rules of modeling in Fs9 and uses a revolutionary modeling technique and fully works in FSX. http://www.lionheartcreations.com/Boeing_797.htmlThis gives a taste of Lionhearts Talent and ability and his dedication to both sims. My best product from lionheart is the Kodiak and he has provided me with excellent service including one on one, when I switched to W7 64.

Hi again Tim, you are absolutely right, I emailed him earlier today and he responded ASAP and had nothing but encouragement and support. I picked up the Kodiak and couldn't help but going back to it! I've tried a few paint kits but gave up on them but when I unzipped the kodiak paint kit it was a snap to follow and like I mentioned (as did you) he is right there for you in the support department! As far as I'm concerned, Lionheart Creations is one of the hidden jewels of FSX. Now, ever fascinated with the Kodiak, tonight I sneaked it in on a CVA flight (I know officially I don't have clearance) but what a sweet plane to fly. I hope I'm not overstaying my welcome in this thread but... just a few more screenshots, this time of CVA flight 1008 still featuring the Lionheart creations "Quest Kodiak".... At the ramp at Fairbanks Intl. Heading toward Kantishna.... I've really got to talk to "Headdog" about the routes he is assigning me can you believe he led me to an airport that uses someones modified trailer as a control tower? And! to add insult to injury I tried to park in the hanger but the farmers booted me out! Thanks one and all for putting up with me ! Gary CVA0319
