Flew another nice CVA route - Kelowna to Castlegar VFR following Rte 6 through the mountains and then Arrow Lake. Takes a little longer but it's a nice scenic low altitude flight, so long as the weather is clear enough. The most altitude you'll need is about 5,000 feet through the last part of the hills before Arrow Lake. Fly north from Kelowna over Kalamalka Lake and catch Rte 6 East at the end of the lake. I'm flying the Orbix scenery but I also saw Rte 6 in Ultimate Terrain (at least the part I tested) Just follow Rte 6 through the mountains until you see Lower Arrow Lake. Follow the lake into Castlegar.

When you see Camel's Hump Mtn, there's a short cut to the right you can take and save some time if the weather is clear enough. fly past Echo Lake and find the highway again.

Route 6 then takes some very sharp turns so take care not to lose it. Plan G helps here.

Clouds threaten down the lake but clear up closer to the airport

The approach from the lake is not bad for Castlegar, just a turn to the right into the runway.

Awesome! Are you using DX-10 preview, Barry? I don't recall. I always think it makes the most difference, but that might be just for city autogen.

I haven't had much luck with DX-10 preview on my system. When it works, it did show some extra detail, but too many times it doesn't look right with my add-ons, especially add-on planes or paints, and also some add-on airports. So I've stayed away from it. So I guess if people can get it to work, it's great. But the scenery/plane designers don't seem to include it much in their work.

You can even see the grass growing at FTX/ORBIX's Orcas Island (KORS) - shown here with a C-185 in the Tues morning rain

Great shots! And that does look like fun! too bad there isn't a handy place to drop those plan-G flight plans so we could share them Barry. Oh well, I'm off to fly flight 6024 vfr :)
