This is getting annoying, I keep losing random time here and there in my flights. I'm getting pretty much fed up with this crap with FSacars. FS-X did not crash, SB did not crash, it was a smooth 1 hour 7 minute flight but it's registered as 7 minutes?

I know I screwed up twice and logged 2 flights under CVA14 instead of CVA0014. I emailed those logs but never got creditted for those, that's fine, it was my error.

Is there another way to submit logs instead of FSacars 'cause this is really pissing me off. I must be close to 5 hours lost up to date and I haven't been keeping a close eye on things. I just check once in a while thinking the system "works". That's no big deal when you have a few thousand hours logged, but not when you're just starting off.

Hey Robert,

RELAX :D

We'll get you sorted out - no worries....it's nto a perfect system but it takes time to fix a few problems once in a while. I have not heard much from others with as many problems although we know there have been a few. We'll get you fixed up -and - I have not had time to fix your hours from the logs you sent yet but they will be done.

Cheers!

"it's nto a perfect system"

Ok, now THAT made me laugh. :D

Ah, I know D, I was just sooo pissed off after that flight. It was the 2nd time I was making that flight too 'cause FS-X had a fatal error 1/2 way across. And the leg just before that, Toronto to Thunder Bay, FS-X crashed 1/2 to TB, and before that, about 50nm out of T.O. from Ottawa.

It was just an accumulation of frustration with FS-X crashes, SB crashing and FSacars mis-reports. Oh, and I'm using Windows XP Home now, I let go Win 7 beta 64bit a while ago 'cause I got fed up with SoftTH problems. Turns out I still get the same problems with XP Home and SoftTH, FS-X and SB are nearly as unstable. I have to start everything up in a particular sequence and I can't ALT-TAB out.

Don't worry about those 2 flights, those were my bad for changing my ID and not thinking, as a programmer I should have known the importance.

What IS bugging me though is this mis-reporting in FSacars. I'm going to manually start and stop the logs and see if that makes a difference. Those couple minutes it take me from turning on the battery to release the brake to push-back should be offset by the hours I've got lost already.

And once I get to destination, I open the door, shut down and turn off the lights, it's not going to add a significant amount of time there either. At least I'll see if that makes a difference, I have a feeling that's not where the problem lies but I want to eliminate that now 'cause it's easy to do.

I have noticed a recurring problem with the clock in FS-X rolling back for no apparent reason. It's not like I'm crossing a time zone either. Look at last night, 0:07 instead of 1:07, that's exactly 1 hour missing. I'm going to make a fresh install of FSacars, just in case I have a corrupted file.

Just noticed another difference of 1 hour:

21:06 Take-off
...
21:57 Land
...
21:57 Flight Duration: 00:-9

21:06 to 21:57 is 51 minutes, take away 1 hour gives negative 9 minutes.

I doubt that is a coincidence.

I think you are getting errors because you have Autostart and Autostop activated. This affects your time because of the way you opperate the parking brake. You should deactivate this and try again.

I have a problem too, I was doing a flight from CYKA to CYVR, and Fascars denied my flight all the way. I was on the live map at all times but did not get any credits. I am trying to bank time to be able to fly heavy. Now Are you going to ask me my CVA.INI and FSCARS.INI ?
I do not know where it is and what it is. I try to save my log but can not find it now. It is just an hour or so but still.
cheers
Xavier

Frank, I was following CVA instructions when I installed FSacars.

Quote:
Click on the Config menu item and select Options. Expand the General FSAcars options by clicking on the "+" sign. Select items, Automated start and Automated stop.

It seems to be working fine now, Dryden - Winnipeg and Winnipeg - Saskatoon were fine. I follow a ritual starting FS-X, FSacars and SB4 and it's seems to be working.

I get an occasional RUNTIME C++ error, I just press "I" for Ignore and FS-X and SB4 keep working. Last time I had pressed one of the other options and that generated a fatal crash (not knowing that Ignore would do just that, I tried it just for fun and it worked out).

I think I know why it didn't log that last leg in the Multi. I didn't exit FSacars after I sent that first log. Now I exit SB4, FS-X and FSacars between each log, that seems to be the problem, FSacars needs to reset variables at startup.

I'm parked at the terminal at Dryden; I start the engines, set my autopilot heading, altitude and rate of climb, lights, radio, confirm FP is in GPS, check fuel (never forgetting that again), close door (not taking off with an open door again either), request a pushback and release the parking brake as the nose of the plane gets that "bump"

The runway is maybe 100' max to taxi. I double-check all my instruments short of the runway, type my intentions on SB4, squawk C, set flaps and get in position and take off. It gave me 4 minutes, which seems about right, considering I'm not very fast. At least now I'm not getting crashes or losing hours here and there.

Xavier, check in your FAacars folder for FSacarslog.txt, copy that file and paste it into a backup folder. Then open the file where you copied it, copy the date/time from the first line, close the file and rename it to that, keeping the TXT extension. Windows will automatically remove the special characters and there you go. Now you can easily identify which log is for what day and time.

I have a shortcut on my desktop called BACKUP FSACARS LOG, it points to my FSacars folder. I open that after I send the log and copy it in My Documents/FS-X/FSacars Logs folder and rename it.

From the last page of the FSAcars FAQ PDF....

http://canadianva.com/fsacars/CVA_fsacars1.6.pdf

Quote:
If you wish to fly a return leg without
shutting down FS, feel free. But you must shut down and restart FSacars so that it
will purge your past flight out and be ready to log your next flight.

If you do not exit FSAcars, it will not delete the previous flight log. Since you have already submitted the flight log it has, it quite likely won't send it again.

I stopped reading at

:D

Yeah, I had pretty much figured that's what was going on. I still don't know why it would lose hours enroute though, but at least it seems stable now.

Hi Xavier,

Can you post your cva.ini and your fsacars.ini files here? Maybe you have missed something in the configuration...

Cheers!
