Hi Folks,

Just a quick note for now. I was hoping to go flying tonight, but alas, I have a user manual to create. This manual will be for the use of the kAcars program.

For those of you who wish to get a start on it before the manual, you may download the file from the Utilities section of our downloads.

Once you have it installed, start the program, it should have created a desktop icon for you. It does not need FS to be running first.

Once the application has started, click on the Info menu item and select Settings.

In the box that appears, enter your full CVA pilot ID. This would be your ID as it is listed on the current pilot roster.

Next, enter your password for the site.

Click Save, the box should go away now.

You should see your Pilot ID listed in the left Main Controls section as well as your hidden password.

Click on the button marked Verify Log In Details.

If connected, you should see verification and your pilot badge in the pilot information section.

Provided you have bid on a flight, you should be able to click on the Get Flight Bid Info.

This will fill in most the required data for you. If you are using an aircraft different than what is listed, use the select drill down in the aircraft information to select a different aircraft. Once select, click the Select button to transfer that choice into the pirep section.

You will have to adjust the aircraft load in the pirep section if doing this. I recommend loading your aircraft with between 70 and 80% of it's maximum passenger load.

You will have to enter a flight level in feet.

Next, start FS, load it with your aircraft at departure and select Connect to FS on the kAcars application.

Make sure your brakes are set and Click Start Recording Flight.

Have fun and I will try to get the manual finished tonight.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the chat thingy.... :p

Just did my first flight on it and it worked super. Pirep filed and everything. I like it. The chat thingy will be good for talking off vatsim and it even looks like we can connect to our website without leaving the kACARS window.

One thing I noticed during testing, make sure you have your correct fuel load on board BEFORE you let Kacars connect to FS. If you adjust fuel loads after connecting, Kacars assumes you've burnt this fuel, and your expenses will be much higher then they should be...

It works great and I'm really happy with it!

Thanks for the tip Keith. I think I did change fuel and it said something about in-flight refueling!!

I get the message about fsuipc not being registered. Not a big deal, I actually do have a registered version, just don't use it. I've had alot of problems with my fs9 version levelD for years (uncommanded control inputs, that make the aircraft roll inverted and plunge to the ground ( Really pissed off with it.) Since I dumped all my fs stuff and reloaded - the aircraft is now flying like a top ( like it did when I originally got it). Not ready to mess with it too much. I think the problem was with fsuipc.

I also am getting a "aircraft not on ground" message. What is that all about? I'm following the instructions pretty close. Did I miss something?

Cheers Bill

The aircraft not on ground is usually due to either a scenery file issue or an aircraft issue. What aircraft were you using?

Chuck: I was using the levelD767 fs9. I also tried it with the pic737. Same thing. Using default Miami scenery.

Just tried the Level D in FS9 default Miami Gate E7 with no problems at all. I have no scenery added to my FS9. I will try the PIC later tonight.

Now that I think of it, I might have an addon to the Miami scenery that corrects a rwy issue. I'll bid a different flight and use another aircraft - see what happens.

Have it working now, Chuck. Had to update my fsuipc version for fs9. I also registered again, although I'm not sure that I had to. I also tried fsx and it worked with the proper version of fsuipc installed but not registered.

Cheers Bill

After following the steps posted above and configuring my firewall all I get is "The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. Clicking that brings up a second message:

It's possible that I have used an old cva site password but I can't seem to find anywhere (on the site) to retrieve it from. Is there a way?
Gary

Hey Gary, where did you download your kAcars package?

Quote:
.../kACARS/kACARS%20-%20Free.exe

According to the code you posted, you are not using the version found in the downloads section here at the site.

Uninstall what you have, go into your Program Files folder and delete the FS Products subfolder.

Go to the site and log into your pilot center, go to the Utilities section of the downloads and download a fresh file.

I originally downloaded from another site but tonight I uninstalled it and installed the cva version It may not have deleted all the subfolders though, let me give that a shot!
Thanks Chuck

No go I'm afraid, is 1.0.1.0 the version I should have?
