fsacars start log button greyed out ... need help

Usually this is an indication that a required field is blank.
I have noticed some flights do not post anything in the "route" box.
Try typing something in there and see if the "Start Log" button becomes active.
Check other boxes as well to make sure such things as flight level have been entered.

Yes, as Harry said, it is usually because there is nothing in the route section. Just type DIRECT in the route section if you do not want to be bothered putting a full route description in.

It is effortless and painless to put full waypoint route description by copying route from vataware record and paste on FSCARS.

Takes one second and makes you look good to CVA management:):):)
