Every once in a while, you come across a real gold nugget among the mountain of addons available on the web. I recently came across the B737-200adv by Tin Mouse for Flight Sim 2004. What an INCREDIBLE package. Kicks the hell out of my payware Captain sim titles, in all honesty. The only problem with this marvelous package is the lack of a virtual cockpit. But everything else is so good, I rarely think about that one missing feature.

So, I got to wondering just how many other gold nuggets I've been missing. Jump in and list your favorite freeware packages here. Doesn't have to be a complete package... Maybe you have a favorite model, that you've added a special panel and/or sound-set to.

Fire away, gents. Oh, and if you haven't already flown the Tin Mouse, you'll just be another year older when you finally do!

And do mention if it's for FSX, as most CVAers use it. Tinmouse is not. I don't know if that means it won't work in FSX though.

Good call, Rob! I've edited my post. Tin Mouse is for FS9...

Rob,

Trust me Timmouse 732 will work for FSX as long as you alias the panel to FSX default 738. And Canadian North livery looks good on TimMouse 732!!!

And Keith, I will tell you about another COOL KICK ASS freeware plane!! I need to write review accompanied by mind blowing screenshots:):):)

Regards,

Aharon

The problem is that I have no idea what "alias the panel" means. Is it simple?

In order to alias a panel, you have to replace the text in the panel folder config file (I recommend backing the file up somewhere first) to read as follows......

[fltsim]
alias=B737_800\panel

The above sample will now load the panel located in the B737_800 folder, the default Boeing 737 in FSX. You can alias other panels by simply changing the aircraft folder name. If you wanted to alias the default Boeing 747 panel, you would change it to b747_400.

Note, in some instances, autopilot features or radios may also need to be added to the aircraft config file in order for them to work correctly but this will at least get you started.

The great thing with this Tin mouse is the panel though. Aliasing the panel allows you to use the (very nice) visual model of the plane, but you lose the best thing about it, which is the AMAZING cockpit systems!
