Hi All, I have been recently contacted by the VATSIM auditors. They have removed our VA from the recognized supporters list due to inactivity / meeting minimum requirements (15 or more different pilots filing online flights within 90 days). We had 14 pilots...a little disheartening that they removed us over 1 pilot. Thank you to our long term pilots that have and continue to file flights online. For those who either are new and have not yet received their VATSIM ID / flown online on VATSIM, or to those that have been inactive for some time (including myself) it is appreciated if everyone could log a flight at least once every 2 months. This will help avoid this issue in the future. I have asked for a little leeway and reinstatement of our airline online given the above. All this means at the moment is that we are not officially recognized but will be reinstated once we meet the minimum requirements. It brings up another point moving forward. We hopefully can expand our pilot base & activity so if you know friends or others invite them to come on over and join our VA. We've had a fantastic group over the years and I would love to keep the VA going on that premise. However, if we cannot get some increased activity and membership I may need to look at the eventual shutdown of the VA. I've provided this VA to all of you over the years out of pocket on my own because I wanted to share with everyone the joy and experience I had growing up that led me eventually to become a real world pilot. I would love to continue to do so - so please lets get some new members and activity going! Cheers!

Sad that theres no replies to this. I'd log a flight once in a while under CVA but to what end? Looks like nobody cares. Too bad.

Hey Gord! There are a number of people that really do care and fly somewhat daily or every couple of days. That's why I keep this thing going! I've personally had a busy life these past few years so this has fallen by the wayside but will be getting a flight in later this weekend. It's hopefully a call for old pilots that have not been so active, or encouragement to get some new blood online. On a good note - VATSIM gave us a 30 day reprieve to get ourselves back in good standing and reinstated us as well. Cheers!

This is true, The biggest problem is that we are missing a good web guy that can keep our web site updated and fresh. I myself have not let up, although my work in real life is very demanding and does not allow me any time for this hobby. I try to get at least one flight a week. I did not respond earlier because I wanted to see what others would say.

Well, I do fly offline on a regular basis however I don't really enjoy VATSIM for some reason. I'll try to book an online short flight once in a while.

I think their stats are by month so if you can log this it would be great. Because if we loose our VA on Vatsim then we will loose the use of CVA as Canadian Virtual, we want to avoid Conehead Virtual Airlines to take our spot.

I stopped using Vatsim mainly because I ran into too many controllers with marbles in there mouth (bad mics etc), hated having to ask them to repeat themselves. Now that I'm retired maybe I should give it another go.

Hi Harry! Yes - I agree there are definitely a few out there like that (or have been over the years). People come and go and technology changes. It would be great to see you back online again with VATSIM and making a few flights! Even if only once every couple months and you can make it a short flight if need be Appreciate your help! Cheers

How do they track the flights? By Callsign? (ie; starts with CVA?)

EDITED I'm on it,
I will complete a flight ASAP. (flight completed July 31)
We need 15 Different pilots to commit to at least 1 Vatsim flight every 2 months. Surely we can do that, we have the pilots doing lots of flights, we just need some to log in to the network and complete one of them. if you could do a flight or 2 during one of the many online events happening every month that would be even better, as that will help us get our name out there.
Who's in? 1) Pete Stuiver CVA0069 (CVA229) 2) Darryl Brambilla CVA7769 3) Craig Farrell CVA0078 (CVA987) 4) Pat Leclerc CVA1412 5) Frank Senecal CVA7769 6) Burton Dykeman CVA0018 (CVA653) 7) Keith Henry CVA0008 (CVA51) 8) --Your Name Here--- 7 more to go!
SAVE CVA ON VATSIM! p.s Sorry for not being out there this summer, thought I would take a break. I guess break's over, now back to work.

Perhaps, for own records we pilots could write in the comments section of the PIREP:
"Offline" for offline flights "Vatsim" for flights on the network In the comments section of your Vatsim flightplan add: Canadian virtual airlines/www.Canadianva.com. this only needs to be done once as it will stay there for your next flightplan.
Please note that Vatsim flights should be using CVAxxx as the callsign in order to be recognized by Vatsim. for statistical purposes.
Just a suggestion.
