I got FSX up and running again, with all my yoke/throttle etc running fine. Alas, my ORBX stuff will not work. The FTX Central program refuses to run - just says program stopped working when I start it. I posted on the Orbx site for some help and they are working on it. It seems to be a system problem, not really Orbx.

There is no way that I am going to re-install Win7. Not while everything else I have is working just fine. All the bank accounts and internet stuff and Excell and tons of other stuff. It just is not worth the effort if I do it only to find the same thing happens again.

So unless/until I find a solution, I'm giving up, at least until I get a new system, which might be next year sometime.

Hate to do it, I really miss flying. But at the same time, I'm not going to make my life miserable trying to fix this everyday.

Sorry, I cant really help you on that.
The only thing, maybe run the FTX Central as ADMIN and make sure it's not install in Program Files (x86)
We all know that Win 7 or 8 doesn't like anything running from there.

Is there a problem with x86? Could you please explain a bit, for me. I've had many problems since getting windows 8.1.

cheers Bill

I'm no expert but from what I understand (and I could be wrong) Win has a tendency to dislike application starting from X86 causing that app to not work properly.
So no, I don't think it's a X86 problem, more like the way windows manages what app starts from where. From my personal experience you can avoid a lot of issues if you run "as admin" and not installed in X86.
That's why I don't install anything in 86 if I can.
Again I may be right off the tracks here.

Pat

Windows 8.1 hates any FS or P3D installed into the X86 folder due to pesky pesky admin rights and permissions. Most like me will create a folder outside the X86 and name it FSX or Prepar3D and install to that. Less Headache's. I have not had any issue's since installing that way with the permissions or admin rights. I also before install will null my useless UAC lol feature so it wont terrorize my sim install and add ons.
