For years I've had the "TOGGLE_AIRPORT_NAME_DISPLAY" shortcut added to my standard.xml and it's always worked. A while back I noticed the shortcut had stopped working and opened standard.xml and put the correct entry back in place and went on about my business, but I notice now that TOGGLE_AIRPORT_NAME_DISPLAY still does not work so today I opened up standard.xml in notepad++ and re-inserted the entry I happened to leave notepad++ open with standard.xml in it and went about my fsx way. When I shut FSX down a dialog opened in notepad ++ saying that standard.xml had been modified outside the program and would I like to reload the document. Sure enough I've discovered that everytime I shut down FSX now something is overwriting standard.xml.
So my question for you is "Does anyone know what would be mess'n with my standard.xml?"

Gary

There is 2 Standard.xml files, try the one in " APPDATA/ROAMIMG/MICROSOFT/FSX/CONTROLS "
I believe it is the one you want and it will over write the one in the main FSX folder. :)

Hi Gary,

Here's a guess. There are differetnt things that can cause the standard.XML file in the /appdata/roaming section to be rewritten fresh from the copy in the fsx root directory, including when a new fsx.cfg is made and other such events like a new joystick, etc. So if you put your entry in both files it should stay there in the event of a re-write. Again, just a guess.

And a good guess it was! I didn't think it worked at first as it appears to write the version in appdata differently than the order of the copy in the FSX root directory but as I scrolled through the appdata version I found my airports :)

Thank Barry and Cal!
