I am just wondering if anyone else has seen this before.

I got a call from a friend today who says that I sent him this e-mail about me "making money from home". I did NOT send this to him and I was wondering if any of you got one from me too , as it may have been sent (not by me) to my contacts. If you are one of them you can just delete it as I have no idea where that came from. I hope it does not cause anybody any pain. It has not affected my computer so far.

I copied it and below is what it says ;

Hey,how had you been???

Oh My God!!! i am so happy right now :-}}, youncant even imagine =)

can you believe i started making money online??? made $52 dollars yesterday :-}}

and u know whattt??? Google people seriously paid me & now im working from my home PC, doing online searches and filling out forms for them...

but let me tell u its fun making money from home chair lol : ))) ...

This e-mail is not true and I certianly am not making money from home as it says.

I'm not sure what or if I should do anything about this or if it's anything to worry about. :?

SPAM, Marty. Bots have your email. But I didn't know they could actually target someone on your contact list unless they had that too. Maybe they do.

sheeshh............. :evil:

1. email harvesters (bots) scour the web for email addies.
2. automatic emailers send the addies a "Hi how ya doing?" email with read notification.
3. reading the email sends a notification back to the system.
4. the system logs the email as active.
5. prepare yourself for more viagra than you can possibly use.

I do not open emails from unknown people.

I delete emails from known people when the subject/title looks the least bit weird (like a francophone friend sending an anglophone email).

I rarely open an attachment unless I expect to receive it or I know what it is.

I use hotmail as my common addy, it has decent spam protection, it's a cheap first line of defense.

I keep my ISP email to myself as much as possible.

I've been trying out Microsoft Security Essentials on XP and 7 since yesterday. I can't say how effective it is, but it's free and better than nothing.

I used to use AVG, but it's gone from a super-light background process into bloatware comparable with Norton, Kaspersky and the like.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and payware AVG has gone to single-PC use, while many of the big players still have 3-PC policies.

I did get that one, but not too sure who sent it as I deleted it right away.
Maybe you could sell Viagra from home now that you'll be getting all the ads and make some money...... :lol:

Switched to Avast which makes a product for my WHServer, and all is well.
