INFORMATION                                                               FAQ (PDF)  Join Canadian Virtual Airlines    Management

Welcome
You don't have to be Canadian to join... but you must be able to "Take off, eh!".

If you are looking for a fun place to share your love of aviation, flightsimming and some things "Canadian" (free medical, correct spelling and higher taxes), you've come to the right place. If you suffer from the strangely fanatical obsession to pretend to be an airline pilot, then, yes, you've come to the right place, as well. Yes, we're virtual aviators.

VIDEO: Here's a visual taste of what CVA has to offer - the incredible talent that brings us all together right here on video:

Canuck Sky - Part 1 - a sample of the spirit of fun CVA embodies.

Canuck Sky - Part 2 - the continuation of where we have been.

The Acquisitions - Part 3 - The Grand Finale!

Thanks to Devon Leslie for producing these videos!

Being a virtual pilot doesn't pay as well as what those glamorous real pilots get, but there are benefits: 1. We get to fly to the far corners of the globe without leaving the comfort of home; 2. We don't have to stay at a Holiday Inn Express 10 times a month; and 3. No annoying passengers to ruin our day!

CVA operations are "mis-managed" by a President, Vice-President, and a bunch of other rowdies. Though we have them, CVA is NOT about rules and regulations. Our primary goal here is to HAVE FUN. We want you to enjoy your experience here from the relaxed pace to the hard core simmer - the level of interaction is up to you!

Our lively and informative (occassionally "laugh out loud" funny) forum is the heart of CVA. Members of CVA become members for life... the camaraderie is infectious. It's our members who make CVA a great place to play.

If you're interested in becoming a member of CVA - remember: it's free and it's fun - take the time to download and read the CVA Member Handbook. This pdf formatted document outlines how CVA works. It also includes the CVA FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions). You will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view/print the document.

After that, take the time to explore the site and drop by the forum...

Welcome to CVA.

A short history...

Founded in 1997 by Craig Farrell (and a band of reprobates who prefer to remain nameless), CVA has been in continuous operation since then. Without Craig's continued financial support, CVA would cease to exist in its current form. Thanks, Craig.

In the early days, CVA was really all about Wednesday Multi nights, where CVA members (sometimes 20 or more) met "online" via Flight Simulator 98, Squawkbox and the SATCO network (now VATSIM) to "fly" from one location to another. The Multi still goes every Wednesday - though it seems the numbers have dropped off in the past few years...

The "CVA look" (aka the website) has been updated, rebuilt, morphed and redesigned at least 3 times (maybe more). As we try to keep up to date with current offerings I am sure this will not be the last time!

The CVA flight operations maintains 3 hubs and a cargo division. Meanwhile, the CVA Academy has been around from the VA's inception, supported by a cadre of qualified real world pilots and air traffic controllers offering help and instruction for all members. Over at the paint shop, members have turned their creative energy to painting aircraft in CVA "colours". The Master Hub Manager and his minions organize the weekly multi's and charters. Through the years, CVA has continued to thrive thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of its members who fly together.

The tradition continues...
