THE INSIDE PASSAGE

On March 22nd, 2006 at approximately 12:26am, BC Ferries MV Queen of the North sank in the Wright Sound just north of Gil Island. The loss of the Queen of the North has left many communities along the famous "Inside Passage" route with heavily reduced services, if not stranded altogether.

CVA has been contracted on a charter basis to fly people, freight and mail to and from the various communities along the west coast of British Columbia.

And, of course, return to Port Hardy.

On occasion, the Queen of the North also helped out on the Prince Rupert to Sandspit route. Feel free to fly this route as well!

Aircraft

Choice of aircraft is up to the pilot, but I recommend turbo props only, and small ones at that. Caravan's, PC-12's and King Air's would be ideal. The use of float planes and amphibians is also highly recommended and adds an interesting twist to the adventure.

My favorite amphib is by Barry Blaisdell and the PremierCraft team. Search for dh6_n167.zip at Avsim.com or direct download HERE. I have also repainted the plane for CVA use and you can download the new colors HERE.

There are also many scenery enhancements available for this area of BC. Check at Avsim.com. Hope you enjoy it!

BONUS!

Bob and Ben have come up with a great idea for a multi. Saturday, April 15th, at 9:00am Pacific, we'll all leave Port Hardy for Hartley Bay. The residents of Hartley Bay were intrumental in rescuing and caring for the survivors of the QN sinking.

In order to give everyone somewhere to actually land (Hartley Bay doesn't show up in MSFS scenery) I've added a little dock to the terrain. I've also splashed some new paint on the default MSFS Caravan Amphib for the occasion. Nothing fancy, just gives us all a place to "meet".

There are TWO versions of the scenery one for default MSFS terrain users and one for those using Ultimate Terrain. There is a SIGNIFICANT difference in the location of the dock between the two sceneries, so make sure you get the right version. Instructions are included in the zip files.

ENJOY!
