Eastern operations of  Canadian Virtual Airlines are centered on Halifax International Airport, which is located approximately 20 miles north of downtown Halifax/Dartmouth.  The area of responsibility for the hub extends from St. John's, Newfoundland to the Ontario/Quebec border.  The routes available through the Halifax hub offer to simviators the opportunity to fly both into congested terminal airspace and also into smaller airports with little or no ground based NAVAID/ATC assistance. The routes available offer flights ranging from a short hop of 20 minutes or so to long range flights several hours in length. You will also find flights which will take you across the Atlantic to Europe and other flights taking you West into the heartland of North America, not to mention South to the Caribbean.  The airspace overlying Maritime Canada is controlled by the Moncton ATC facility of VATCAN, while Quebec is handled by Montreal ATC. These sites can be an invaluable source of information and also provide instrument/departure procedures and charts for many of the airports within the FIRs.  NOTAMS
